I recently bought 2 sizes of the half hexi templates so I've been watching a few KZfaq videos for ideas. This video was very timely for me! Thanks!

I've made half hexie braid quilts from scraps. Have a long one going to use for a quilt border eventually.

I made one of those for a table runner years ago and forgot that was a half hexie!!! Thanks for the reminder! Braid quilts are so neat!

I made this pattern for my nephew's first daughter when they lived in Colorado and there was lots of snow. So, I called the pattern the "snowball" pattern.!!

Very pretty quilt, love the colors in the layer cake. Instead of cutting the edges of the hexi’s off all the way around the quilt just add half a hexing at the beginning and end of each row. This would be so pretty hand quilted. What size quilt did the layer cake yield?
@thesimplequilter74993 ай бұрын
Yes you can add a half hexi on the end of each row versus cutting it off. I used yardage so I don’t know how big one could be with a cake layer. Well now wait…a layer cake typically has 42 squares. That would make one hexi per square so you would end up with 42 hexagons. Hexagons are 8.5 finished size. If you did six columns by seven row. The quilt would measure approx. 51” c 59.5. Smaller if you trim edges down. Larger if you add half hexies and borders
