There was an alternate ending storyboarded but not filmed. In that one, Somerset kills John Doe so Mills doesn't, this thwarting John Doe's plan. While still powerful, I think I prefer this one where the bad guy does win. Though I do prefer this one where Mills struggles with the decision instead of the edited one without the internal struggle.
@residentfan1521
@residentfan1521 2 ай бұрын
@@StimParavane the US justice system is usually pretty lenient on these cases. Mostly because that wasn’t murder. Mills’ crime falls under voluntary manslaughter(crime of passion). He wasn’t in a rational state of mind so it can’t be considered premeditated. Leon Plauche killed the man who kidnapped and graped his son in public in full view of the cops and a news crew. No jail time. Upon thinking about it, Mills wouldn’t be acquitted. But he’d probably be punished. Leon got a suspended sentence and community service. Mills most likely would get something similar. And he’d get fired but no prison time. But, tbf he probably kills himself later so…..

I went to see this in 1995 with my acting coach at the time. At the end, there was not a single sound from any person in the audience... except for only one young woman. @@jimvick8397Came here to say this is one of the best reaction stories I've seen and I could totally picture it. Then I saw that stupid doubting comment. Some troll said the same kind of thing on a video I commented on with a true story that happened to me that started getting popular (that always seems to attract them). I replied to them saying something to the effect of that I understood their reaction due to people sometimes making up stories trying to get likes and such, and that I would never do such a thing since the only thing I found more pathetic on social media than someone making up a story for likes, was someone who would accuse someone of making up a story with no proof and knowing nothing about it, just to try to look cool or get reactions. After that, I got zero more such comments from them (or anyone) and, not ironically, the story became one of my most liked comments in my little social media presence. I believe you and so does possibly everyone else but them, or even including them, but they just wanted to (or their program was programmed to) comment in a contrarian manner. Fincher is undeniably the GOAT. I still remember when the film finished in the cinema not a singlenperson stood up to leave. We were all in shock and I shall never experience that again. Top acting performances all round at a time when films really were an experience to your soul not like the drivel that comes out today. For some light relief people should check out the beer commercial video from Brad's brother.

1:54 the deep sad thing that people (mainly women) may not catch is the utter breaking of a man. a man that took on a role as a protector (a husband and an officer) to have his loved ones stripped away from him and his ability to protect them…broke his soul. Brad killed it with his facial emotions. He died that day
