Pretty sure Baker coming off the field a couple of times was scripted. He has a huge grin each time he reentered the game.

Yup, Ding Ding! You got it! I’m attempting to show my normal SEC-based subscribership what’s going on in Norman. Good looking out, bro!
@joelaton10625 жыл бұрын
He is so cold he totally forgets what a defense is LOL. Seriously though, he is a excellent coach. If he gets even a average defense he is gonna take it to the next level. I do advocate caution with Jalen though. As a Bama fan, him not taking open slants for 2 years was agonizing. Defensive coordinators had figured out his weaknesses and how to make him uncomfortable. On the plus side, with the lack of physicality in the Big 12, he is gonna punish teams running the ball. He is insanely strong. He has all the physical tools to be a elite Qb. He just needs to get the mental aspects down. And take what defenses give them. Other then obviously watching my team this year, LSU and Oklahoma are who I am most interested in watching. It should be fun to watch.

Not just your Lincoln Riley offense review, all your reviews are spot on. Great channel😎 he's got a version where after pitch qb stutters back and throws to X receiver(6'4" Calcaterra) matched up with sub 6' defender. Check out Mayfield's dime to Mykel Jones in 3rd quarter in a 3 play masterpiece for the lead.

Murray is so damn fast Sermon was afraid of being left behind.
@ubon115 жыл бұрын
I remember this play vividly. I liked your analysis, I never really thought of Sermon’s role in the play. As a huge Sooner fan, I was just happy K1 got some decent yards. But after seeing this, it is easy to see if Sermon sold it, K1 could’ve got upfield much sooner and then he could’ve broke this one big time. I’m sure that’s what Lincoln wanted, but we all had to settle for what we got as K1 had to run along the LOS before turning upfield and then was forced out as the WR couldn’t hold the block that long. Excellent job of analysis.

What makes it even more genius is Baker having a cramp was part of the design. They did it to not make it obvious they wanted to go to Kyler with this play. I remember watching it live going Baker doesnt even look like he's having a cramp, then the play was ran and the camera flipped to the sideline and Baker was smiling and jogging back onto the field. They did it one more time in a different way in the Rose bowl vs Georgia. Baker pretended to be extremely winded, came out for a play and Kyler had a run pass option designed for just him.

Can you do an Alex Grinch scheme review when he was at Washington state?
@TopBillinSports5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for asking, bro. Defensive scheme reviews are tough on me because I played defense. You can do something different on every play or someone’s assignment can change from play to play. You get what I’m saying? Offense is different because there are concepts that are prevalent throughout every scheme and you have run and pass concepts. Defense is more reactionary, technique- and hustle-driven. I’ll see what I can come up with. But as long as you know the alignment, everything else will more than likely be dictated by who you’re playing. I actually cover USC for a few seasons for Rivals and did a film study on his defense at Washington State, which pulled off an upset against USC with Darnold at QB, and I remember them stemming on the line and having a 250-pound 1-technique. Shit was kinda weird, to be honest, being as though I cover Alabama and Georgia. It may be useful in the Big12, though.
@MkShantrul5 жыл бұрын
Buckeye fan here I really wanted to keep Grinch at Ohio State, I have a feeling he is going to do great things and bring Oklahoma's defense to be the best in the Big 12 to go with your all's dynamic offense, you should continue your dominance of the conference but also when you get in the playoffs be able to play with the other teams on both sides of the ball. Good luck on the season.

Good analysis. I agree when you see the play develop, if trey kept his eyes on the LB K1 could have gone for 20+. Sick play design though. I would even say after the pitch, RB should have laid a block since he had a step on the LB. Great play from L.Riley and great critiques by you my dawg.
@YourAverageFan5 жыл бұрын
The best thing about this play to me is that you can do so much more with it. RB keeps it. Kyler takes pitch and runs or throw. Could even throw a reverse concept in there if you wanted.
@ubon115 жыл бұрын
If Sermon would’ve kept it, he probably doesn’t get much more than 1st down yardage as he isn’t that fast. Best case scenario if for him to sell it more, then pitch it, and then Murray turns the corner much quicker and breaks it big as the WR doesn’t have to hold the block that long.
@cconnell70095 жыл бұрын
I had forgotten about this play. That play if executed better by Sermon could’ve been a big big gain. Sermon was also playing in like his second or third game ever as a true freshman, so dude understandably might have lost some composure. I remember thinking after this play: was baker actually hurt, or was this all scripted to unbalance OSU?

Do you have film of OU’s play action plays. They like to sell the run blocking so well and the QB runs the other way with the ball with no protection and still has enough time to find an open receiver. How does it successfully work?

Man if we had rich rod offense with don brown defense#damn.
@brandonboyd58995 жыл бұрын
Great analysis, but you missed the real genius with this play. Earlier in the game, Baker came out with an "injury" - they ran the same look but Sermon kept the ball and just ran the zone. A couple of series later, Baker comes out with a "cramp" ( in the first half of a cool night game) and it appears they are going to just run the same "safe" play with the backup qb to get baker back in the game and they run this option play that was somewhat botched by Sermon. By the look on Bakers face, Riley had his future Heisman QB fake an injury twice. once to set up the play, and a second time to run this play that they set up earlier.

Damm if #1 was a yard or two deeper the rb could have cut behind the defender after making the pitch with a quick slant and became a receiver #1 could have the option to pass, so it's like two options in one play.
@TopBillinSports5 жыл бұрын
That may be some video game-like thoughts, as the first order of business for the receivers is to block.
@charliehusttle38005 жыл бұрын
Top Billin' but the rb didn't block nobody that's why I said if #1 was a yard or two deeper, #4 makes the cut behind the lb he'd be open. It'd be like #1 rolling to his right and throwing around a lb to his TE. They had the time to do it.

Man, Oklahoma is a Blue-blood-program, maybe the best Blueblood ever. Why would he leave Oklahoma to mess with another school? My boy Bob Stoops was there like 58 years and was also rumored for NFL and other jobs. Leaving Oklahoma for any school would be weird, in my opinion. I’d leave a team like Oklahoma State or West Virginia. Edit: The NFL I would leave for, though.

Top Billin' I agree that Oklahoma is a blue blood and leaving for another college would seem like a no go...but USC in my opinion will surely be looking to replace Helton in a couple of years and Lincoln Riley + All them California high school kids would be a scarry sight. Top Billin' I’m comparing it solely on recruiting, at USC you have the Cali and the whole west coast to pick from. At Oklahoma you gotta rely on other states talent
