So this is EXACTLY what I have been experiencing.... Last year I had this exact pain on my left ankle area... I went to A&E, they did an x ray and MRI and they said to me 'they cant see anything, everything seems fine'..... While all a while , it was ANKLE ARTHRITIS for goodness sake. How did the doctors/nurses not realise this when I was telling them all my symptoms and the pain I was experiencing....? Very, very strange.

I have bilateral osteoarthritis. In big toes and talonvicular joints my arch is collapsing and feet are sore underneath and o have high arches im lost as what to do.

There is another option.... Ankle distraction surgery to ensure you can still use your ankle daily .instead of fusion surgery

I live in severe pain every day due to ankle & foot arthritis. I've had fusions, & pretty well had my whole foot rebuilt & it's only made it worse. I have a birth defect called skew foot & this has made my foot in a very twisted position that they don't seem to be able to fix. It has overloaded my foot with stress & has damaged my foot further. I'm scared I may have to have an amputation. All I can do is sit.

They can do amazing things with prosthetics. Why are you afraid to have it removed when you are experiencing so much pain?

Hi Dr Nice to see ur video.. I am. Dr in NHS UK, I have my rt leg short by 5 inch due to old burn contracture and rt knee joint orthodosis decades ago.. I have arthritis mainly in my thumbs and sometimes have a difficult time holding onto things or I`ve got trouble selecting things up. James Walters I had injured my ankle and suffered for 5 years, developed arthritis bu started drinking turmeric powder every day for the last 2 years.last year I started jogging and now I am back at the gym, even can wear heels. Isn’t fully heeled but at least I can function normally. 4 years ago I could barely work, had 5 cortisone injections, physical therapy, spent 3k on acupuncture, nothing, couldn’t do anything in the house, no lifting, terrible. I have tried home remedies as well, cabbage and onions compresses

Thank you for the informative video. I'm a 51 year old runner from Cape Town with arthritis pain and some inflammation of my big toe joint. I have picked up a recurrent strain injury in my hip it feels like from gait abnormalities on the affected foot which is interfering with my training. Is there a way for me to train up to say marathon level, or is distance running usually not recommended in a case like this?

Why do doctors advise to take a "simple" pain killer.....whilst they may aleviate the pain in my toes for a while, they certainly do not do anything good for my stomach long term, and I do not want to rely on taking painkillers every day which is ridiculous and possibly addictive!

Remember that motion is lotion. The worst you can do for arthritis is to become sedentary. Once your joints stiffen up, it will be extremely difficult if not impossible to get motion back. I'm fighting this for many years and the best decision I made was to listen to my gym trainer (to keep moving) and ignore my doc (who said I'll never be running again). Be smart about it, listen to your body, but don't become a couch potato! Good luck.
