Pablo Malaga Yes. I’ve seen a lot of documentaries, interviews. I don’t believe it was Richard in the slightest. They were very close. He was the absolute best at producing his sister, knowing what was right for her particular sound. Her Mom on the other hand? Totally favored Richard and from interviews seemed quite abrasive and curt with Karen. Just a tragedy all around.

Karens mother was her problem with Anorexia. The mother always doted on Richard , while Karen was never good enough. She only wanted her mothers approval and love. This is why she starved herself. It was the only thing she had control over. She seen herself as imperfect , and kept trying to be perfect . Her mother controlled her life , even forcing Karen to marry after Karen wanted to back out , when she found out that he had a vasectomy. She knew that she would never have the children and happy life she longed for. Such a sad life!

Do you know how many songs Richard picked and even wrote-- even specifically for Karen (like "Because We Are in Love")? How many albums did he produce? Who asked Karen to sing in her gorgeous lower range and arranged everything for that? A&M executives asked Karen that the album not be released-- and she complied.

No other voice is like hers. I have heard several songs sung by others and when Karen sings them, she makes them beautiful. "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" and "Little Girl Blue" are two examples. It is truly a shame she left at 32. I suppose heaven's gain, our loss. Still, I am glad all her songs are still here for us.

@@stevewright4092 Richard had been in rehab for drug addiction and had his own problems. Please look up the complexities of anorexia. Rather judgemental of you to think he just manipulated her to kill her? You know Karen BECAUSE of Richard. From all accounts, he was a loving brother and Karen adored him. Do you even know she dedicated her solo album "To Richard with all my heart"? Let's see that "interview" that proves his jealousy instead of love.
