In 1978, my family live in small village in Pacitan, Indonesia, my homeland. My dad bought new cassete player, and my brother bought Carpenters album in town. My family often play this song with new cassete player and listened and clap together according to the rhythm : my dad, my mom, my 3 sisters and my 5 brothers. We are big family, our house was near the river. Most of us don't understand English, but Karen sang this song with perfectly voice and the beat is nice. Beautiful memories with my late mom and dad. We miss you, mom and dad.

I agree, but I imagine that if you're reduced on being a good singer this may provoke sorrow in the heart and you may have doubts about your personality. You always "must be" happy, even if it is not the case and this can be very hard for normal persons. We need all someone who loves us really and not only people who admire us for our special talents. Anyway, farewell to Karen and hopefully she has found love where she is now and still she can make happy the people with singing great songs.

Jim Maslowski, I was born in 84 but in the late 80s, my Grandma had a Walkman and this is one of the first songs I heard with them neat headphones on my ears. Then I heard the "we've only just begun" on the movie 1408 and liked it too. I only knew my Grandma for 7 years and all these old songs bring back good memories of staying with her and sadness too because I loved her and still remember and miss her. But she had a great taste in music. We used to listen to Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Doors, The Beach Boys, The Jackson 5, The Bee Gees, Dion and The Belmonts, and that was just to name a few. I do listen to the 80s too but the 50s, 60s, and 70s are my favorite just because it brings back those fond memories and I truly love the music also. The crap of the 90s and up just don't do it for me at all. But I really love the Carpenters for sure.

Feb 2020 ....My wife and I were married Oct 9, 1970. "We've only just begun" was our song in every way. It is 48 years later, and we've seen most of those roads, lived most of that life to live, and found that room to grow. I love to listen to this song and think of those roads and the places they have led us. The room to grow has given us thee children and the pain of losing one to a car accident. We are old now, and still in love even though we are approaching 50 years together. I wish all of you who are "only just begun" live long, happy lives together. There is nothing to compare with it.

Don’t say God called her home. She starved herself until she had severe damage done to her body. That wasn’t God’s doing, it was people who made her feel like she needed to be skeletal.
@nurse580
@nurse580 3 жыл бұрын
Did you ever consider this? If God ‘calls people home’ we have to also say he chooses their CAUSE of death. That means God would sit up there in heaven looking down on earth at individuals saying ‘This one can die of cancer’, ‘this one dementia’, mmmm a car accident would be best in this persons case’ and in Karen’s case ‘a slow painful death from anorexia would be best”?? What a terribly cold and cruel God this would be! Do we really believe he cruelly and deliberately takes people from their families causing others immeasurable grief as well?? I’m sure you don’t. Unfortunately we have been brought up with certain sayings like this one ‘God takes people’. This insult to God originates with leaders of churches that call themselves ‘Christian’ who have the Bible but choose to teach God dishonouring doctrines like this one. Please see Ecclesiastes 9.5 for the truth about death....’ the dead know nothing at all...’. Jesus clearly stated death was the same as sleep, a state of unconsciousness until the time of the resurrection...see John 11. The Bible also clearly teaches that death is an “enemy’, that Gods purpose is to restore the human race to everlasting life and he ‘yearns’ to do so as He is a God of love not a God of hate and cruelty like his greatest enemy Satan who is ‘a liar and the father of the lie’ (John 8.44) and this belief is clearly one of his lies. I say this out of understanding how we all repeat sayings we’ve been taught and that get passed down through generations. I have been guilty of the same until I learnt the truth. All the best
