Is this really another one of those things where I like something everyone else doesn't?

Children of Earth ended so perfectly, they didn't need another series. Gwen and Rhys off to raise a family and Jack leaving earth because there was nothing left for him anymore

Miracle Day didn't even feel like Torchwood. There were no aliens, no alien tech, barely any references to Doctor Who or even the shows personal past. It basically became a cop show. Of course, with that said, it certainly had a cool premise and some nice moments.

I'm just happy that Murray Gold is still doing the music and the old theme is still in there. They could have completely revamped everything and I am so glad they didn't

I'm really enjoying the new series, I do miss the old UK feel to it, but this new series is pretty cool, I just hope by the end it doesn't turn out to be a really disapointing result. :S

man i just loved the miracle day series. it kinda reminded me of world war z a little bit. you know, it was showing realistically what would happen if nobody died anymore it was really chilling and awesome.

Personally I loved Miracle Day and I hope Starz and the BBC collaborate again to bring another season of Torchwood. :D

I really like the new titles! The main thing I like about the Torchwood titles is that they've always been so simple, which makes them seem very... enigmatic. The new titles carry that on nicely. As for the actual new series... haven't seen it yet, I live in the UK dammit -_- I just hope it's as good as the last series. 'Children of Earth' is the point where the show stopped being a mediocre Doctor Who spin-off and became an incredible new show of its own.

@ImmortalSparrow Oops, my bad. I remember Gold from the excellent Doctor Who soundtracks and reacted when I saw him in the credits Friday night. According to Wikipedia, "This will be the first time Gold has composed more than just the theme tune in Torchwood." Well, it's still in the Whoverse family so I'm still happy!

I can see the thought behind it, even though this is a series - it's one arc so it's more like, a mini-series, if that makes sense.

Loved the first episode :D Don't see why some people are complaining, it hasn't changed much. It just seems bigger-budget than Children of Earth, which is a good thing. Love Rex, Esther seems okay, Oswald is downright creepy, Rhys and Andy were funny, Gwen was awesome, and Jack was Jack. :P Glad they're not shying away from the gritty stuff (the blown-apart man who' still alive, etc). Can't wait to see what else they do with the Miracle! Loving it so far :)

@AlexanderT21 He's a fantastically complex character - when he made his speech at the hospital, I knew he was just doing it to put PhiCorp back in the media and therefore secure his own safety, but I was practically cheering him on nonetheless. I think the important thing to note about Oswald is that even though he's only trying to save his own skin, he's still making a big difference amongst the public. He's becoming the people's saviour.

hmmmmmm, interestiing. I think i like it, it's just very different to the series 1 & 2 opening

@BowTiesRCool Excellent! I look forward to it :) From what I've heard, some of the American actors don't fit in too well in the beginning, but as long as it's sorted out later on and the show can maintain the same levels of pure tension from CoE, then all is well :D

@Scrummy64 trust me, i am a massive fan of both Who and Torchwood, and i agree that CoE was a massive adventure compared to series 1 & 2., I was so afraid that Miracle day was going to be really Americanized and cheesy... But guess what? It isn't! I think it's absolutely brilliant! I would rate the first episode of Miracle Day 5 out of 5 because it has action, mystery, good dialogue and that cool Torchwood feel about it. And about 15 to 20 minutes of the 50 minutes are still set in Cardiff :D

@MultiWill94 I do too, but it kinda makes sense that it's a bit subdued, considering that Torchwood essentially ceased to exist at the end of "Children of Earth".

@tvgirl17 is Murray Gold doing the music? I thought it was Ben Foster... as I remember it the original Torchwood soundtrack (series 1 & 2) was both of them, and Children of Earth was Ben Foster alone.. regardless, they both make amazing music! =D

@beingmyselfisgood812 I agree, Children of Earth worked because it was 5 episodes long - it was a good length, 10 is just pushing it a bit

@BowTiesRCool I just watched the first episode last night and I actually think they're all really good, Bill Pullman especially... Oswald just creeps me out :L

I wish the TORCHWOOD motif was a little more obvious though...

@xzxeviexzx The current format is so much better in my opinion, and RTD said himself that this is the format he's going to stick to for as long as he's running the show. To be honest, there were some episodes in the first two series that I really liked; 'Countrycide' was my favourite from the first and 'Adam' from the second, but at that point it felt more like a Doctor Who spin-off than it's own show, whereas it's now made the jump and become very unique.

I miss the old theme, I am sad it will be a good series but I liked the show when it wasn't just one story line, I liked it when there were a variety of stories like series 1-2. I thought children of earth was ok but I will have to see what they so with a story ark that will last ten episodes. ;(

I enjoyed this series and the others because all the series are brilliant pieces of television but form whatever comes next if there has to be some Americans in which is fine btw I would love to see a good mix of American and British characters because being British myself i think that would be really Interesting just my opinion. :)

@AlexanderT21 I wouldn't be suprised if there's no series 5. The series aint doing great in the USA, and I think most of us will agree the old series was better.

@benlroberts2 No it wouldn't have. Most of the middle episodes were the ones with the strongest sense of character development, tension, and complexity of interaction by the characters. Take that away, and you have a bunch of people just going out and facing a threat, with no real consequence to them or the viewer. But, then again, TV viewers are impatient sods who need to be spoon fed everything, so what I do know.

I'm not liking these if I'm honest, I never really liked the originals, they were always a bit bland, but I think these are just a bit undramatic. The low-key music, the may the screen is full of heart-monitors, nah, I'm not convinced. I'd prefer a more dramatic theme, with some more lively and involved titles. "BowTiesRCool" I think has made quite a nice one, if a little removed from the story, it's got the right idea. :)

Watched it, and it now is like any other American TV show. I am really disappointed.

Miracle Day wasn't all that bad... Okay, it was half decent... Alright alright! It was terrible! It wasn't Torchwood at all!! Captain Jack Harkness was a joke in Miracle Day and let's forget Gwen was even there D:

yep. miracle day would be better if it was just 5 episodes, like CoE so far, out of the 7 ive seen, episodes 2, 3, half of 6 and the unnesecary gay sex between Jack and Angelo in episode 7 have been complete rubbish. And the 'Let's throw loads of knifes at Jack coz he's the devil' bit was just plain wierd. 8/

Sigh... That is NOT Torchwood. I am sorry, but no. Where is the excitement? Where is that theme we love so much? Why is the logo so... ... unnoticeable? etc, etc, etc. So many reasons to dislike this... Oh, well... Hopefully the rest of the program will be better and make amends for the rubbishness of this - lol
