21 күн бұрынTaoiseach Simon Harris tells the Dáil that the UAE's travel ban on Roscommon flight attendant Tori Towey has been lifted.
The charges against Irishwoman Tori Towey in Dubai have been branded ‘absurd’ and ‘truly astonishing’ by a human rights group.
The 28-year-old Roscommon woman was previously detained and was barred from leaving the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Yesterday, the Dáil heard she is a victim of domestic violence and has been charged with attempting to take her own life.
After approaching police in Dubai for help, she was told she was barred from leaving the country and is facing charges of attempted suicide and abuse of alcohol.
She was due in court before the end of the month.

What do you expect from a `country` that still lives in the dark ages. If you are in Dubai you must remember you are not in a civilised society. Save your money and get out before you annoy them! Let this be a warning to all Irish people thinking of embarking on a working experience, don`t be lured by the money.

She's actively encouraged these people to come to Ireland I would ban Islam from Europe and also force other religions to either reform or ban them also. Why are Jewish boys getting circumcisions? There's no need for that. How come there's no female priests still ? We wouldn't allow that anywhere else but the Catholic church has gotten a pass still after all their crimes

I don't understand the draw to Dubai for women . Women are not considered human they are considered property , so whether you move there or simply go on vacation you really need to think about the risks . I wish Tori the best in her future and pick your next partner more carefully than your last .

We have plenty of home-grown abusers. The difference is our institutions and laws and society have progressed to the point of at least trying to help victims and not punish them. As a society, we understand and embrace equality. In any such enlightened society or culture, the influx of a large number of people from a society that has not made that journey, that does not recognise women's rights, or animal rights, that behaves very differently, causes the host society to resent the large number of strangers from a very different culture who fail to respect and abide by the norms of the host society. Is it really necessary to explain this? You don't have to be a bigot or racist to want your homeland to be recognisable and a place you want your children to enjoy.

In judaism like islam, it follows similar religious laws. Tori must have been drinking alcohol before and after marriage, which is forbidden. Drinking alcohol in general is forbidden . Being disobedient to her husband is a "crime," and suicide is also a crime. Ireland is gonna have to pay big money to get tori out or give some land to the UAE . Tori should have known better when living in an Islamic country . This is not a Western country with laws that protect a woman even if she's wrong and accused a man because he's a man . Beating a spouse is unacceptable, but in religious law, it's permitted if one doesn't follow those rules of that religion.
