We received our first snowstorm of the season here in Maine (December 4th, 2023). We picked up 8” of heavy, wet snow. It led to power outages and limbs snapping out of the trees. It is beautiful though! Gave me a great chance to test out my still nearly brand-new Toro Power Max Heavy Duty 1030 OHAE snowblower. I bought this machine new last winter and used it about a dozen times last season. It worked FLAWLESSLY in this wet snow today! Got to love the anti-clogging system Toro builds into their snow blowers! Even throwing snow with a half inch of slush on the bottom doesn’t stop this snowblower from chugging along. Check it out!

Thanks for sharing the video. Your Toro Power Max HD 1030 had no problem with that heavy wet snow. I got to try my Toro Power Max HD 1232 for the first-time last winter. In late February we got 9 inches of extremely wet heavy snow. This was the test I was waiting for to see how well my new machine was going to handle the snowman snow. After about an hour blowing that slop, I have to say, I was very impressed. The distance I was blowing that stuff was amazing. Over 50' in heavy wet snow and in powder closer to 60'. My property has some rough terrain to snow blow, so I was hesitant to go with a machine with auto steer. I did a lot of research before making the purchase on the Toro 1232. The quick stick works great, once you get some time using it. The Toro anti-clog impeller system is not just hype, it works as advertised. Not one time blowing that heavy wet snow did it even hit of clogging. We also got a spell of really cold weather last winter. I store my snow blower in an unheated outbuilding, and it was right at the 0 mark the morning I went out to blow the snow we got during the night. Most of the snow was blown into drifts here and there. What I was wondering, how was the machine going to start in such frigid temperatures using the pull cord. Turn the fuel on, put the throttle a little more than halfway, hit the primmer three times and on the first pull she fired right up. Out into the cold I went. Those hand warmers are a blessing in such temperatures. So far here in southeastern MI, winter hasn't showed up yet. Thanks for showing how well your Toro 1030 Power Max HD worked. Maybe before long well get some snow to get out and play in here in MI. Have a safe and blessed winter and a happy new year.

I agree except people should start in the middle, then do the zamboni method. That way you never have to move the chute, and you never blow snow over sections you've already done. Thanks for filming it.

@@Mr21scott I agree and do this “Zamboni” method on windy days when the snow is powdery for the exact reasons you mentioned and also to help prevent it from blowing back in my face! 😂

It's got a nice thine stream coming out of the shoot like Honda's have witch should blow back on those windy days.

I do love that about this machine. But on those windy days with a fluffy snow, you definitely do still get that cold snow bath now and again if you try blowing into the wind! 😂 Thanks for watching!

I had my first TORO 824 hp back in 1998 and had it for 20 years, I gave it to a friend who needed it running perfectly. I then bought the TORO 1028 4 years ago and still love it, you cannot kill these machines, best machines money can buy. You made a wise decision. BTW: I live in New Hampshire. After winter is done, I pump out as much gas out of it and let it run till it konks out and put it away.

When you adjusted your skid shoes, did you have the machine resting on the concrete or just above it?
@OffTrailMaine
@OffTrailMaine 6 ай бұрын
Because I have a paved driveway I did minimal adjusting because the dealership I bought it from asked me if I had a paved or gravel driveway and adjusted it for me accordingly. But if I had to adjust it I’d probably find something like a thin board at a few sturdy pieces of cardboard to put under the blower in order to raise it up a bit to make it easier to drop the skid shoes down equally on both sides.

Hello! I think I’ve seen your channel before. I have a camp in Eustis. Are you near there or more south? It looks like you have nice property. Beautiful scene when the trees are covered.

I never take a full bite, because I hate leaving snow trails.
@OffTrailMaine

I agree! I typically overlap with just under a full bite just to catch the extra that falls over. Thankfully this blower seems to do great really cleaning things up unless I’m going too fast in deep snow. 😂 Thanks for watching!

What does ohae stand for? Just curious.
@OffTrailMaine
@OffTrailMaine 7 ай бұрын
Great question! I had to do some research myself to see if I could figure it out. It looks like each letter stands for something different that the particular model snowblower has as part of its package. In this case the “O” stands for OH valve, the “H” means it has the handlebar warmers, the “A” stands for Auto-steering, and the “E” means this model has Electric start.

Unbelievable Elephant in the room no one talks about. My machine is virtually usable The hand grips are like squeezing one of the excercise devices to strengthen your hands. Either the springs or the angle make using the machine unbearable.
@OffTrailMaine
@OffTrailMaine 6 ай бұрын
You know, I don’t completely disagree with you. My hands do get a bit tired after using this machine for hours, and I think some design portion of the handlebars needs changing. But then again, my hands get tired after using anything where I keep them tightly squeezed for extended periods of time (i.e the throttle on my weed whacker comes to mind). I’ve run other brands of snow blowers where my hands and arms get a bit tired too, though not quite as bad as this Toro. Definitely something they could look into improving on an otherwise great machine.
