Referred this question to my engineering expert, and this is what he said: Greetings, You need to define the term “over torque” Condition 1 The torque specs that are set to achieve a controlled condition. i.e, sealing a flange without distorting or not loosening under vibration or other functional performance. Condition2 The maximum specs for a given screw, determined by size thread schedule and materials, Violate condition 1, You are within the allowable limits of the screw, but have exceeded the limits of mating parts, Mating parts may fail. Violate condition 2 You exceed the limits of the screw, Screw may fail. Failure can be stretching snapping galling stripping. A screw that has been over torqued, is damaged and will not preform as designed and therefore should be discarded. Cheers, Dr. A

Owner of the world's only pentagonal bolt. Kidding aside, useful.

Yeah, I might want to re-enroll in art classes. Cheers, Dr. A

Nice presentation. For the learning glass, are your writing backwards? Or does it have a mirror? Really neat.

Jeff C, Not writing backwards (I'm not that talented). The board is called Learning Glass. You can check it out at www.learning.glass Cheers, Dr. A

went straight looking for this comment 😂 at first i was like he's about to explain this and write backwards at the same time?!

If you over torque a bolt, lets say a bracket or some other non torque critical item on an object that has vibration and heat, like an engine, but the torque on the bolt doesnt pull threads, what are the odds of loosening, or snapping, or causing damage to the threads from expansion and contraction with the vibrations.
