Michael Pinto, brother of Manuel Pinto from the first episode in this series, has so much to share with us. We spend much of our time together talking about the surrounding mesas and other land formations. Along the endless horizon, Michael describes the route he took as a 9-year-old boy shepherding his herd 30+ miles in a day. The land feels timeless, but there's evidence of change: In the checkerboard area that is the eastern edge of the Navajo Nation, you'll find 4 miles of solar panels near Pueblo Pintado, mostly on private land not part of the Navajo Nation. And if you look further, you'll find 200+ Tesla megapacks. Finally, we delve a little into the NAC, Native American Church, which blends together traditions from many tribes. There aren't many medicine men left, Michael says, who practice the traditional Dine' ways. Join me as I reminisce with him about sledding on car hoods and learn there are some topics that will have to wait to be discussed until winter.

I like hearing stories from different parts of dinehtah. When stories are told in English a lot of information does not get across & I can tell your guest wants to say more but cut it short because he is trying to explain it in English. If he interviewee told their story in Navajo it would be more wholesome. Thank you

Yessir, I agree. The Pintos are much more fluent than I am and I felt at peace when they were sharing their stories. The next episode will feature both brothers sharing stories while we are on location.

I was born & raised in Western Navajo Agency. I was taught when a Coyote passed your path & it's heading north, it's tell you something bad might happen to you. Corn pollen & a prayer will make things good before you continue on

Tózis is within my ranch. But that’s true on that he said. When it rains. It reflects like a glass. There’s stories that it’s like a snake pit inside the mesa.

That's interesting to hear, it sounds similar from I heard about other mesas within the Navajo nation

I like how you juxtapose traditions and lore alongside the stories of progressive professionals like Tamarah Begay. It tells a very enlightening story about the intersection of different lives with shared origins in Dine culture. YOU are a storyteller. It is good to see and hear about beauty and harmony in a world where it is becoming harder to find. Please don't ever stop telling these stories.

Ahe' hee for the very nice words. We do this purely out of passion and for a look back at our history for our boys. We want to make sure everyone can watch these videos and get a clear idea of how diverse we are. That's just us focusing on one tribe right now. Once we feel like we are at a good spot, we will be highlighting other tribes.

Thank you for another amazing one, filled with knowledge and teachings!!! Michael has definitely seen and experienced UFO’s, I could tell by his pause when you asked him. Though, I do know from experience that our elders get uncomfortable with discussing these things and believe that we may give them power through speaking about them.. Though I have found that some of our elders do open up, and the things that they have experienced cannot be out into words.

Aoh' Michael does have some amazing knowledge. When I did ask him some questions, there were moments of pause that was fascinating because my family has seen some stuff in Shiprock. My grandparents and great grandparents saw the B2 stealth bomber before it was public. We still have a crop circle that still stands to this day. This world is fascinating.

@@Spagoshi Thank you so much for sharing this information & the stories told from your relatives!!! This is huge stuff! Amazing! The world is fascinating! I have heard stories about a lot of the Ancient Monuments on the rez being stargates/portals, where many of the medicine men of the old times could travel through different worlds. Also the rainmaking staff that certain families or descendants from water clans had!

Yah at eeh abini Patrick, thanks for sharing your story. It's always interesting to get everyone's take on ma'ii crossing our path. I've always wonder how dine' would react in urban areas. I usually slow down and let someone pass, but I'm considering tadaadiin or gish. Ahe' hee shi'kis

If a coyote ran out in front, my parents would pull over, let another car pass, then resume driving. I've had a fox cross me a few times, and I kept driving because I've never heard of bad luck concerning a fox.
