It's our last day with Manuel and Michael Pinto in Torreon, a small community on the eastern edge of the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. In this video, we go back in time to The Long Walk when the Pintos' ancestors were hidden by local Mexicans in Espanola, New Mexico. When they finally were able to come out of hiding, most of them decided to put down roots in Torreon, and they immediately went to work restoring their traditions. Passing down these traditions is precisely how Manuel came to be a medicine man. Fast forward to the present day, and Manuel continues to share knowledge with younger generations to preserve these sacred traditions. Join me as he shares his advice for how to pray and become your best self.

I wish he could speak jus navajo.. when he speaks about the original teachings.. my spirit yearns for that kind of talk. It warms me. Thank you from the god within me to you, and the medicine man.. thank you. Dats a shark tooth brother.

Aoh' I'm there with you but he helped me by the cliff notes of what he was talking about after his conversation. It helps for a brief explanation of what he was talking about and me not having to transcribe everything. The tooth was mind blowing and the pterodactyl bones he came across was pretty amazing

I greatly appreciate your videos around Ojo Encino (my home), and Torreon. Those were fun times running around the cliffs and mesas exploring and discovering cool artifacts such as fossils and even old armory from conquistador days such as old cannon balls.

That's interesting, I'll ask Mr Pinto & see if he knows of such artifacts. I enjoyed a recent interview I did with him and his wife. Always a great conversation with the family. Ahe' hee for your comment & sharing some history! 🤙🏾

It is strange that when you turn on closed captioning and the Pinto's start to speak in the Dine' language the CC says "foreign language". It should say "native language". I too have always shared the idea that a lot of the beauty and magic of life is affirmed very early in the morning. If you are not there to experience it then you miss out on a lot of the wonder of how life begins new each day. (That is also a good time if you are a fisherman because the fish are sometimes very active) Is it true that the Dine' people prefer not to go out in the night? I think I read somewhere that is because night is the time when restless spririts wander. Tell me if this wrong because I don't want to have ideas about the Dine' that are not true. There is a lot of misinformation in this world, but only if you subscribe to it. Beautiful ending words from Michael and Manuel. "Pray in the morning" "Just be yourself and you will learn" ❤❤❤

Wise words sir and thanks for sharing your personal insights. Looking out into the night has always been a no no especially little kids. I was told to keep the windows covered due to dark energy and attracting unwanted attention. Ahe' hee for your continuing support.

@@mikemartin5938 I agree with your sense of understanding what Manuel is saying. He does wrap up a lot of his Dine' words into simple English sentences after he speaks for a while. Ahe' hee for watching his videos 🤙🏾
