Owning a Tourtours is dramatic , go round your garden make sure no gap's in the fence they can escape if so , don't use wired fencing they can climb and topple over the top , they can dig under a shallow fence easily...use scaffold size planking around the boundaries if more than one Tourtours they climb on top of each other to escape , be warned if there is another Tourtours in a garden near by they will do almost anything to get to each other, they want to hump , they know when another Tourtours is near by . Be careful when introducing a new Tourtours to one or a family because they carry a desease that may affect the others in your family of Tourtours , also they can bully each other and may need to be separated at times , lots to learn lots of fun , fox Cubs will eat the legs they will turn Tourtours upside down the Tourtours will splay legs out and get hurt or die, so need to put them away nightly secure from the fox , birds some will surround a Tourtours and peck them to try to eat them mostly one taste and they fly off so crow and magpie are dangerous to Tourtours be careful. Don't let your Tourtours get too hot in direct sunlight they can over heat and become unwell , bath then in shallow water once a week more when first wake out if hibernation. Wash their bottoms keep them free of any bacteria or worms be ready to take to vet if you think your Tourtours is unwell . Be warned they watch you they learn from you they follow you they want to be with you leaving your gate open your Tourtours may slip out to find you and then you loose it.. be very careful they are master of disguise and when the afternoon and evening sets in they will hide and it's very difficult to locate them in a busy garden if you have pampas grass they climb up into the grass up off the ground for protection and you may not find them until morning.... always leave large saucer of water so they can climb in and sit in the shallow water to hydrate they use their tail in the water as well as sucking up through noses and mouths mostly get moisture from wet food so your food you give should have been run under cold fresh water and given like that ... Don't give bread and jam some people do this but avoid doing that. Most of all WASH YOUR HANDS EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU TOUCH YOUR TOURTOURS .
