Never a dull time watching tip toe and learning about him. Who would have thought he was a picky eater! I always wonder what those flowers taste like for him because he loves them. During the 1980's I had a holiday in Mauritious. There were 2giant tortoise kept as pets by the hotel. They roamed freely in the grounds. We used to feed them bananas, which they loved. However, we had to watch our fingers, they were very grumpy!! I love how you look after TT. Love from England.

Have you looked into getting bales of hay? A bale could be about 50-80lbs but not very expensive. Inquire at a feed store garden center, or from folks at your local farmers market. Farmers Market sounds like a treasure trove of TT goodies.....

I keep rabbits, and to lower my hay costs I go to either the local farm and fleet and get a 50pound bale for 20$. Or sometimes I go to the local horse people and buy a bale off them for like 10$.

Tiptoe is too good for hay

The produce department at grocery stores throw away insane amounts of stuff, I don't know if you've tried this. I've always wanted a Sulcata but I got a Belgian Malinois instead (which I've wanted for 30+ years), 😂. I realistically didn't have the dedication or space for a proper enclosure and our climate wasn't conducive to its care.

My tortoise is probably 25 pounds- Igot her November 2019- she fit in my palm at that time- we just put her outside this summer- top toe is great - pokey is my tortoise name
