Greeting from sunny So-Cal, Torrance, to be precise. I walk once a week through my adjoining neighbourhood. I see on AVG. 4 ''flat screens''. I wish I could do something with them. When you buy a TV in Cali., there is a recycle tax paid, but everyone sets them out in the alley.

WOW what a gem of a tv . The main reason why the back light issue happens in the first place is the brightness and the contrast are turned up to full - this I found out from a gentleman from 12voltvids here on you tube who also is a great techniton has repaired countless of these tv's . So people who are reading this { turn down the brightness and contrast and the back light level and your tv will last a whole lot longer. LED's are yes efficient in power savings but are not as Durable like the fluorescent tube type units were.

I always turn the back lights down to 50%

stripped a few of them down..just gotta watch those little plastic screen board clips.. easy to go too mad and pull too hard and damage the screen bond when it pops out.
