Thanks for posting this video. Following you step-by-step I was able to change the led strips in the same model Toshiba 40L1333DB (with original internal specs). I did not have any issue with the grounding screws, or even find them. I was careful to put everything back in the exact order :)

You will need the exact powerboard. I’m pretty sure it’s the issue.

Hello I have a Toshiba 47l7453d which comes on rhen the backlights go out after about 10 mins rhe just flashes on off i have checked the backlights and they seem to be working OK. Could this problem be down ro the backlights drowning to much power .

How was the screen dark with just two leds out? I thought the screen are designed to work with an led gone out?

Hola. Tengo una tv toshiba que le pasa que se va la imagen al minuto o 2 minutos de estar encendida pero se sigue oyendo. La apago vuelvo a encender y vuelve a funcionar eso. Unos 2 min. Es problema de led o de placas?

Hi Allen, my 40L1333DB tv backlights are definitely gone now I’d be happy to tear it apart and change them but you sort of scared me talking about grounding tabs.. do I have to worry about that or did you just mention it because you had previously changed some of the pieces in it already?

I have a toshiba model number 55lf621u19 with a white display you can still see the picture just a white display over the picture I pulled off the back panel but was only able to locate the power board and main board I can't didn't see the t con board

Allen you mentioned when using led tester that some chips may go faulty, is it the fan7621 chip on the power board or the ic001 on the inverter board.

Are you sure you have this model of tv as this one does not have a inverter board ( this is a DB ). The inverter board model ends with just a B ( not DB). Totally different set.

Ok. That’s a completely different tv to this one. I’m sure I’ve done a video for that. If you’ve tested the backlights and they all work then it could be 2 things. 1 , the led driver board. Or 2 the connections on the middle of the led strips. Look for dark solder. I bridge them with wires and then they come on again.

Regarding the order of the diffuser sheets, does the thickest sheet sit at underneth the thin sheets?

Yes. Thick plastic diffuser at the bottom

I have a Toshiba ves 48 ounvs _3d mo1 when I turn it on it stays on for 15 30 seconds then the back-light goes off is this the driver board or the l e d itself in your experience

I’ve had this fault with both the Backlights and powerboard. I suggest finding a replacement powerboard first as they are under £20.

i have on my sofa a toshiba 40L1333DB does nothing but flash the stb light red green red green, am i looking for the main board? good video by the way. can i test all the led strips from the single plug that would plug in the power supply, i have an led tester box thing.

Hi Mark. Yes your led tester will be fine for the leds. The reason your stand by light is flashing is the TV has corrupted firmware and cans fine the “ turn on command “. Yes a new main board is the nest and cheapest option. Make sure you get the correct board with the same 23........ number as there are many variants. eBay should have loads.

If the led is not illuminated at all now , it’s either a faulty main board or you haven’t put all the plugs back in the main board

@@allenfleckney5969 all plugs back in, swapped back original main board, back to a blinking red/green light, with new/s/h main board, nothing, contacted ebay seller, will see how that plays out.

Hi. You’ll need to see what screen has been used , there will be a label on the back.

my in-law has a toshiba 40L1333db that's gone, can hear sound but no picture... if the whole lot has gone would it be some power supply to the backlight?

No it only takes one bad led to Shut the whole tv down. If you search my videos I have shown a step by step repair for it.

@@allenfleckney5969 Ok thanks, will take a look. She's bought a new TV anyway but I figured if I can fix it would save it from landfill and could still have a few years of use somewhere. Anywhere best to source the spares?

What voltage did you apply to the leds

The led tester is automatic but if you work out that each led is 3v and take it from there

Hi Chris. If no picture but Backlights are on it could be T con or Main Board , the fact you say you have no remote commands would leave me to replace the main board. Make ysure you replace it with the same one that feeds your screen. , good luck.

HI Allen, cool channel. I have a TOSHIBA - 40L3863DB 40" Smart LED TV and it will turn on and off with remote but does nothing else. Nothing on screen, no start-up noise, nothing. Any ideas?

Hi. Usually the backlights. Switch the tv on in a dark room , the only light you should see is the stand by light flashing when turned on. If the screen glows dull that means backlights are on. If it stays black , then your backlights have failed.

@@allenfleckney5969 Yeah, there's no dull glow at all on screen. Forgive my ignorance, but would you not still hear the noise it makes when booting up? Cheers for the reply.

I’ve never known these make a start up noise. ? Plus the Bol may be right down. Turn the tv on , press a menu button , then shine a torch on the screen to see if you can see a faint outline of a menu text. If you see something then definitely backlights.

@@allenfleckney5969 You were spot on, Allen. I can see a menu when I shine a torch on it. Can only see these lights on ebay though (www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363378920901?hash=item549b124dc5:g:sHMAAOSw9fZdriJg) . Are they ok or can you use other LED's?

Does the whole screen go off if it's just one faulty strip?

Yes. The whole backlights can fail with just one Led failure on one strip.

Why do the LEDs only last 3 years? This is disgraceful in my opinion. LED TVs should last longer than an EFL backlight TV really. I read somewhere that someone lowered the LED drive current on a Vestel 17IPS71 power board (resistor value change) - this will give less backlight power but presumably extend the life of the LEDs significantly.

Reply to myself: I have lowered the backlight to 75% on all my TVs in the hope they are less likely to die from overheating.
