Here’s my wish list: plays smooth like fall of the samurai, has generals like three kingdoms, and has worlds to conquer with territories on each world as if it were a province. They could make this game wild.

They need to go back to what they were doing 20years ago.

They just refuse to give us Med 3 or Empire 2..... Kind of the only way they could make a comeback.

For the warfare to make really sense, it has to be something like wargame: red dragon or broken arrow. I don’t see the traditional warfare system like they handle it so far, makes much sense considering the setting

They would have to completely make new gameplay and mechanics for it to fit the way battles in star wars are. It doesnt work in formation fighting

I am a massive historical fan, and fed up with them like you. But a Star Wars game would bring me back!!

The best way to approach a game like this would be the same approach as Star Wars Republic Commando. That is, depicting a much more gritty and realistic feeling and applying it to Star Wars. That game proves that sort of thing works when done right. I remember they even brought in real life special forces to advise them on how the Clone Commandos move and clear rooms. It was such a neat concept and something I think a RTS would benefit from, having a much grittier feel to the war. I do NOT think having two armies shoot at each other damn near point blank in open fields for 2 minutes and have two "hero units" fight each other for 1 minute then calling it a battle will work very well. But its kinda what I expect to happen.

I'm not excited for anything CA or Disney has to put out at this point. Two arrogant corporations who think their customers are idiots teaming up to make some half assed cash grab just doesn't appeal to me.

This brings me back to the battlefront days, I remember playin the campaigns and always wished for a proper rts for star wars... I think we're getting some good games focused on realistic sci fi warfare so if they stick with what star wars used to be I'll prolly be happy bout it

I think if they used more of the three kingdoms system but they’d have to add a whole new element if they wanted to actually do this which is the space battles. I don’t think CA is the right company to take this project on

Honestly if Disney had done there series stuff and then on the film front did Rogue One, Solo and more singular Story title ones and not the prequal trilogy i'd be fine with that :).

Appolo you are kinda wrong although you are right that Disney are not taking the right path with Star Wars for the movie franchies and some decisions and pay budgets. They have made amazing TV series and animated series. If you look into Bad Batch/Ahsoka/Andor/Mandalorian and Clone Wars latest season I would even put Obi Wan but they kinda ruined due to budgets and shortage of production but overall their TV series and animations in regards to Star Wars have been very good.

Disney keeps cancelling projects, because they want megabucks profit since yesterday rather than waiting for a full development cycle.

Return of Avatar Conquest would be epic, but I doubt CA cares about multiplayer anymore and the game will most likely have no chat and so probably dies early as people cant build connections

for me part of the problem is that I don't see how they will adapt their engine into a start wars game. they may have ground battles on lock, but the space battles are just as, if not more important, and that's something that CA has never done: a real working 3D map. Honestly i'd be happy if it was just Awakening of The Rebellion but better, better graphics and the like. I'm sure its not hard to do either, they can buy the engine off of the original owners, and revamp it since is a 20yr old game.

All of CA’s issues aside, how would they do the combat for a sci-fi battlefield? It’s completely different from anything else they’ve ever done and would be a completely different battlefield dynamic

Not having high hopes with this rumor. As for Star Wars itself, as someone who is a fan, it needs to finally rest or it should've never been sold and George should've done 7-9. Lord of the Rings, if Jackson is doing something, then it'll be more close to the source material and not some stupid modern idea from people who never even looked at the material. Star Wars factions (also including those that were before Disney took over and ruined a lot of it) The Old Republic, The First Sith Empire, The Hutt Cartel, Revan's Sith Empire, Rakata, The Sith Empire, Techno Union, Galactic Republic, Trade Federation, Banking Clan, Commerce Guild, Confederacy of Independent Systems, Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, New Republic, Imperial Remnant, Empire of the Hand, Yuzhon Vong. Those were the main ones I could remember. Still, if they did this, they would have to find a way for space battles. Empire at War already does that very well.

Honestly my main concern is that there just won't be enough units like the droid faction would get battle droids, super battle droids, drodikas, magnaguards and that's kinda it other potential factions would have similar issues the empire would be clearly the most absolutely busted with potential units like jet pack troopers, death troopers, scouts, heavy machine gunners, AT ATs and everything else Which would lead to a tone of crappy overpowered dlc must haves

Who actually believes that stingy CA would pay greedy Disney the inevitably ridiculous fees to get access to the rights to Star Wars? It doesn't even fit the TW game mechanics! They'd have to make an entirely new game design to even remotely make it work!

Creative Assembly couldn't possibly make it any worse than Disney. Right?

The only way this game could be good is if it end up looking like steel division 2. it makes sense with SW's emphasis on vehicles and air support.

I honestly dont have high hopes for Star Wars unless they abandon their current formula. It doesnt make sense with star wars for 120 clones and to stand off for a line battle against 200 droids. Theyd need to look at Halo Wars and Empire at War. Make it small squads, of like 12 MAX. Implement a cover system, improve naval combat as star wars without a space battles is really kinda a waste of time and potential. 40k, would probably suffer in similar manner. I heard one of the projects is WW1 and tbh i could see that working as large regiments of like 200 people wasnt unheard of, especially when it came to the trench aspects so it coud work for major battles. though personally i think smaller scale battles should also be incorporated where smaller squads can be used in a more precise way. And stuff like MG crews could be made to be extremly devastating but take like a literal minute or more for the MG to set up and be able to shoot

i feel like every time any franchise puts out a game I'm skeptical now... so many disappointments in recent years makes me always check out real gameplay before buying it myself. I guess we will see

Fans gives us Empire2 or Med3 - CA i know lets do everything but a proper historical game! WW1 could be fun but seems its having a difficult development i would have thought an updated Empire2/Med3 would have been much easier to develop and fans still want these types of games look at the hype around Manner Lords.
