@@alphanoodle1877 I'm a Warhammer 40k fan (not fantasy though) and it is true many games are inspired by the WH lore but this particular storyline is from Warcraft III and it has been plagiarism and quite faithfully so. It's quite shameful honestly, considering that warhammer pride itself on originality. Don't be blind, mate.

@@TemplarX2 I am sorry that warhammer used a very common object in their own setting to do a very common thing that takes place in warhammer to begin a war which is very common

It's a pretty simple and fairly predictable story, but executed extremely well. I especially like some of the subtle touches, like how Yuri's "barks" (the voicelines when you click on him) _very_ gradually shift as you progress. They don't get swapped out all at once at specific thresholds, but rather new ones are slowly added as he becomes more corrupted, and old ones are removed. Or how the loading screen texts are excerpts from Kurnz' diary, showing how Yuri is following in his footsteps not only literally, but also figuratively in his fall to Chaos, it's just really great stuff all around. Also, it goes without saying, but the VA for Yuri is absolutely INCREDIBLE.

I wouldn't mind more narrative game modes in total war sure keep the standard conquest mode but give us the ability to relive famous historical stories and perhaps some divergent history so players have some choice.

What do people actually think of the daemon prince in the game in general? Do you think that he is capable of becoming plenty powerful, or do you think that he is always held back?
@madlarkin82 жыл бұрын
Like all daemon princes, they are enslaved avatars of the gods. The power that was granted to them can always be taken away. As it was with Be'lakor. In terms of gameplay, he has the most flexible roster of any faction, high skill cap but very powerful.

I think Yuri might be based on Yuri Dolgorukiy, a Grand Prince of Kiev who ruled the Kyivan Rus’ in September 1149 - April 1151, and again in March 1155 - May 1157.

Yuri is based on the fact that its a very common eastern Slavic name, not on some random dude who ruled for a couple of years.

Plagiarism. Arthas story.
@DainnGreywall Жыл бұрын
And Arthas was plagiarised from Elric of Melniboné. Let's not be stupid here.
@HouseOfAlastrian Жыл бұрын
It's not plagiarism... the Fallen Hero is a very common trope in fiction. Star Wars has Anakin Skywalker, Revan, Malak, Bastila and Count Dooku, among others. The MCU has Wanda Maximoff. Warhammer 40K has all of the Primarchs who turned traitor and embraced Chaos... especially Warmaster Horus. Hell... Arthas isn't the only one in the Warcraft universe, because you also have Sargeras, Sylvanas Windrunner, Kael'thas Sunstrider, Deathwing, Malygos and pretty much the entire Scarlet Crusade. But you know who the greatest example of the 'Fallen Hero' trope in literature is? Satan! I mean come on! The guy was God's greatest archangel before he lost his way and became the ultimate evil.
