Three once very beautiful homes, now left to rot away. Such a shame. Imagine when these homes were in their prime - how cozy, warm, and comforting they would have been with thick stone walls, large fireplaces and built-in cabinets. The details all throughout, such as the paneled sides of the window sills and the details of the fireplace mantles, just add to the warm charm of these homes. Nothing like these being built today, where developers just slap up generic vinyl boxes jammed in next to each other, and then paint everything white, and charge a fortune for them. I really enjoy your work Cappy.

In my opinion. That house was built around 1790, judging by it's overall look and grandeur. The fireplaces are huge.

First house is the winner for me. Rough shape but the fireplaces and big rooms. Must have been amazing when built. Second and third places were so damaged I didn't get much of a feel from them. But I applaud your determination. Be careful out there Kappy, there is only one you. Thanks

Once the roof goes the rest of the house goes too😢 That first house was incredible and could be restored easier than the others. The upholstered walls and door were so much work!!! The turquoise room with the antiques was a real zinger. The organ and grand piano made me cry. In the house with the missing floor from under the stairs: what a mystery! Been in this work all my life. Most of the furniture is not original to the house although old. Originally this was a S tately home. We learn people build their dreams on Earth only to rot down. Life is temporary, It is better to build a mansion in heaven that will never rot down.

I love this old house. Most of the damage seems to be cosmetic. There is no graffiti, no vandalism, just neglect. And I love houses with books. I spend more time reading than I do on KZfaq. Looks beautiful in the snow!! Thank you Kappy!!

The transoms over the doors , crown molding, some beautiful pieces in these places. It’s like stepping back in time … when I was younger I lived in Blair County here in Pennsylvania, in a huge Italianate … circa “ 1867 “ and built by Andrew Meier . The place was so beautiful to live in , it made me feel like I was living in luxury. It’s a shame that these places are in such bad condition, but they’re still “ gems “ of history. It took me so long to get through this video because I stopped every ten seconds to absorb just how picturesque these grand houses were. The first one really was stunning as you say. The pile of paranormal books in front of the fireplace was funny. I can see myself sitting there with a fire going, reading some of them. Love the big windows and the upstairs office with the old office equipment and kidney-shaped desk. The fireplaces here are some of my favorites you've ever found. Glad you didn't stay in the attic long, that air was not healthy for you to breathe. The last two were beautiful skeletons. Great video Kappy, made my day.

The first was definitely the most interesting. I certainly wasn’t expecting a pink stove in the kitchen, and the tiles on the fireplace were very unusual. The furniture upstairs was very beautiful and looked very old.

These houses still somehow possess an air of dignity. Particularly the first I think. You can tell they once had more.

My grandparents had an old pump organ like this when I was growing up. We would play on it for hours when we would go visit. My aunt had it restored. I also have an old trunk like the one in the attic. It came from my grandparents also. It is a shame that people let this organ ruin. Kappy, I love how you appreciate all of these old homes that you video. In so many of these homes, I see things that I saw growing up in South Carolina. Your channel is my favorite. ❤️

This was an amazing house ,so many rooms and unique in it's design ,was the second house on same property or separate ,it was great to see,was in rough shape ,wont be there much longer,the third one was a great one also,a little dangerous though but was good to see

It's amazing that with the quality of construction and possibilities of these properties restored they aren't bought in a tax sale instead of just sitting and falling in, could be the area they are in.

What a jewel. Stone houses were usually built with smaller rooms, average ceilings and lots of fireplaces. This one looks more like late 1700s. Stone houses are really tough to heat. We have lots of them here in Pennsylvania. This is truly an interesting house. Thanks for the tour. ❤

That first structure was really something! I read they call those basement potties "Pittsburgh potties' and that was a popular thing a very long time ago in that area. All those books point to a literary soul (and we read them all!) but in the UFO room, those multiple covers of the same book suggests either an editor, publisher or author at work there. The first room certainly had the flavor of a workspace and would have been a lovely place to do mental tasks! Please, when you see those original door latches and handles, Kappy, could you gives us a still or in-depth look at such fixtures (especially those hand forged 'latch and lever' pieces!)? Image a door latch that lasts centuries, before the 'planned obsolescence' we're forced to suffer with today's society! That third house certainly suffered significant structural damage and I wonder if the installation of the plumbing was the first insult to weaken it. Certainly is curious how crippled it has become! TY for taking us along on your explorations. Really interesting (and sometimes ignites some warm memories!) Stay safe out there and God Bless!

I love those huge fireplaces in the first home, what craftsman ship. Can you just imagine the firewood cut to keep them going in the winter.

The huge fireplaces always have me wondering what it was like to live there.

That Jasper Mansion - those massive fireplaces and all of the wonderful old furniture left to rot. This is one I wish I could have seen during its glory days. The second house had interesting interesting fireplace mantels and the third had great woodwork, but if I owned the property the last two houses stood on I would be tearing them down to avoid injuries to urban explorers.

The first house is amazing as is. New roof , a little plumbing and Electric, a little cleanup and I would live there. But the road noise….it says so much. Reminds me of a few almost houses that have crossed my path over many years.

Paperback books looked in decent shape. With that big of a collection, it’s likely that some collectibles are present.

It is never too late if someone has enough money. My current house was once like all of them but someone saved it. Leaving the skylight open and not heating in winter that’s what you get. The entire first floor of my house was replaced. Looks like a new house from the basement. I prefer houses that have not had that trauma but it’s still here. You are a brave explorer.

I am always so amazed at how some houses look from the outside like they would be okay inside and when you go in they are just totally gone and then sometimes you find homes that looked horrible on the outside and the inside isn't that bad. It's almost like those surprise packages that you buy and you don't know what's onside. Sometimes you get something good and sometimes there's no telling what you're going to get! Thanks for maneuvering those old gems for us to see!

The first house's character, if it ever had any, was almost completely eclipsed by the thousands of paperbacks which someone left behind. I would love to have seen the house before those arrived. Still, its fireplaces were nicely appointed and the exterior is or was very lovely. Sadly, the house is too far gone to do much now. 😢 The second house makes the first look really great! It gives few clues as to its original layout of rooms, but the lovely fireplaces and the delicate moldings at the entrance you used support the possibility that this house was once quite grand. You are only twenty years to late to know for sure, though, intrepid explorer. Okay, on to house number three! The fiest room exhibits the deep exterior walls which indicate thick walls. The fireplace is quite lovely, even graceful. Holy cave-in, Kapman! That's one heck of a first step! What a shame you can't access the remainder of the house! This house is the best of the three shown, at least from an architectural standpoint. The ruined staircase is very beautiful and I've got a suspicion that the rest of the house is equally lovely. Aw, those short shots of other houses are sweet! Hope we can go through them later! All in all, Kappy, these were interesting explorations. Thank for finding them! All that snow made me shiver! Things here are finding their equilibrium, slowly. Hope your world is regaining its normal rhythms, too. Much love to you, dear boy, from East Tennessee.

I wonder when these homes were abandoned. They were grand places in their day, but also after being modernized and remodeled inside. Glad the former owners respected the original wood and stone work, and the fireplaces.

If I had to guess, the first house was abandoned some time around the early 2000s. The Whitley Strieber books in the floor were from 1995-1996, Sugar Busters (at 6:35) came out in 1996 but that may be a later printing, and the fridge looks late 1990s/early 2000s. The elements have certainly done a lot of damage in 20-ish years but it's still structurally sound. The other two houses... I have nothing to really go on, but based on condition, they were most likely abandoned at least 30 years ago, probably much more. Wouldn't surprise me if it were the 1970s or earlier when those houses were last occupied. February 11, 2024 1:21 am
