You must know the Dutch are number one in sports medicine and training. You combine that with the fact they are the tallest people in the world (0ut side on small group if African around Sudán) and produce more of the world's food percapita than any other nation and one realized the Dutch way is the only way right now. Their universités and sports tranning centers are now filled to the brim with people from other nations. It all came to our attention when they took a slow Decathlontrix Dafne Schippers and made her the fastest women in the world with their emphysème on relaxed running.

He just had some bad luck, look at El G. He lost a fair share of championships to bad timing. Peaking is 90 percent hard work, 5 percent good rest, and 5 percent good luck. People need to remember that there is a second or two between the greatest and the greats. I once won a xc race against guys with 10k’s 1.5 minutes better than me. At the big show I ran my xc race behind the same 3 runners by 1.5 minutes. I had my best race ever on that one day. I had my best day ever in that one race. That does not matter however because that’s what makes distance running so amazing and mysterious. Also I once witnessed a runner I ran against in college. He was a mid pack guy of no concern to me. I did know he trained really really hard though but just not talented so it appeared. Fast forward to 2000’s road racing he was the top runner in minnesota( my home state) and even beat my old training partner who was even faster than I was and had huge track pr’s. So this guy went from a 32 minute 10k guy to a 29:30 min 10k guy or maybe even faster. It was amazing how he improved. You just never know. It’s all about the hard work, timing, and health. Any one of those gets off and the house of cards tumbles down. Jakob however has unbelievable strenth. That is very rare. He reminds me of Secretariat…another great runner in horse form. He got beat too. I really like Jakob and think he is fantastic for the sport. There are just haters out there as there always is for the greats. Always has been.

@blainenewton7188,Jacob has never spesialized at 1500 m,all his training are focused on the longer distances,but he is very fond of running at the 1500 m,he think its more prestiges to win there,and he will give it a try while he is young,he can move to longer distances when he is older.Imagine how good he would have been at the 1500 if he had spesialized training.Both his older brother Henrik and him self are of the opinion that neither the 1500 m,nor the 5000 m,are his best distance,they think the 10000 m might be his best distance,he said that with hindsight he should have qualified for the 10000 m in the last European Championship,then he think he would has won gold there too.He has won gold at both the 1500m an the 5000 m in the last two European Championships,so the guys that are dominating the 10000 m now have to hurry up and take their wins now,because may be in the near future Jacob may be the guy to beat at that distance as well.

To get the 1500m / mile record he needs to run a fast 800m. Hicham's official 800m PB was 1:47 however he ran a 1:47 in the second half of a 1500m. That means he probably could've run at least 1:45 low, maybe 1:44 high. Jakob doesn't have that kind of speed. How he puts people away is he can run a 55 off of a fast pace, very few people could do that. Ever. Josh Kerr has run 1:45 (could do 1:44) and Wightman has run 1:43 (could go low). He needs Josh Kerr speed and he will break it.

Hell, he even brought in teammates in major championchips who ran fast the first laps to help him win. And don’t forget that an alarmingly high percentage of Hicham’s training partners from Morocco were caught cheating. Just sayin… And btw, there supershoes have never shown to provide any advantage in the shorter distances, and that would make perfect sense considering the competition is fiercer than ever, yet noone is close to those records in middle-distance. @@thewalkingjoke3843 this was a newly installed track and judging by some of the times in other events appears to be fast. Both Can. sprinters went sub 20 sec. in the mens 200 metres for ex. I know a lot of these “off distances” aren’t run very often, but I still feel like they have pretty competitive records because the greats tend to attack all the records. What I mean is, if you’re okay at the 1500 and 3k, you might not attempt the 2k. But if you’re one of the greats of your time at the 1500 and 3k, you’re way more likely to tackle a 2k too, ‘cause that record’s actually in striking distance. I wonder if TRP can fact check this though: Do the best runners of their time typically tackle the “off distances” as well?

@@nathanielseltveit3252 I don't think he has the kick to ride it off of the three first laps is only descent speed. There are runners like Whigtman and possible Kerr and maybe Narve Gilje Nordås that has a kick as good as Jakob. Nordås was wild on the last lap in Budapest. El Guerroj was as good as he could be. With the so called «improvements» today, he would likely not be much faster at all. His pacers were always good, he was always good at pacing himself, the supershoes have never been shown to give improvement at shorter distances etc. I could go on, but it’s just pointless. Hicham would n’t have been any better than he was. Period.

@@thewalkingjoke3843 Great points. I especially agree on the shoes - too many people claim that new shoe technology is worth several seconds at 1500 which is nonsense, they haven't been shown to be worth anywhere near that much at middle distance. They conflate the track spikes with the road supershoes, which DO definitely make a big difference at the marathon, for example. However, I would still argue that El Guerrouj went out a bit too fast on the first lap a few times - such as Brussels 2001 where he ran 3:26.1 to narrowly miss his own WR. The pacers hit a 53.6 for the first lap, he and Lagat were right behind at around 54 flat, which resulted in too slow of a second lap. I feel that with a slower opening like 54.7 or so, he could've dipped just under 3:26.
@tizioincognito.3330

@@thewalkingjoke3843 You really think that? Then why are they making it such a great deal about those shoes? Shouldn't they make more difference while more running? What about Cheptegei who beated Bekele, but was a champion like him on the track? I am questioning.
