If you think just because your strokes looked like the pros that you're going to win more matches then you're going to be very disappointed. If you want to play more like the pros then you need to understand some of the foundational things that they do that you're not doing that could win more matches, and it has nothing to do with their strokes

I always tell my High School tennis players that footwork necessary to get to the ball and make your shot. You can’t stand flat footed but you need to have “ happy feet “ that don’t stop dancing around the court until the point has ended. Personally I played a lot of basketball and baseball before I started playing tennis. I brought a lot of crossover skills in regard to footwork, following the ball, and anticipation to name a few. Every time you hit a shot you should have a placement, purpose and proper pace ( spin + net clearance) for the shot.

I really have to train myself to recover after hitting. It is a very bad habit to watch my ball go back to my opponent.

In my opinion, the whole question of recovery is simplified a little too much. When identifying the two best shots, one should first introduce the difficulty of executing them and so the probability of success by the opponent playing that particular shot. For example: playing a super angled shot that falls just into the service area is extremely difficult and unlikely, so I wouldn't take that into consideration when determining the attack surface unless i play a very strong opponent. I think there is a lot to discuss about it ...

I think ideally we should be in the air when the opponent is hitting, so that we know where to go after landing.

This should be taught in the very first week of learning tennis and repeated nearly every lesson thereafter. Excessive? I think NOT! If you don't believe me, watch players at your local court, or your own tennis buddies playing and see how often they break these shot choice guidelines and it leads to losing the point.
