This is by far the best tennis training channel on youtube. The explanations are so logical and clear. And I'm so happy to see a forehand drill I can practice by myself. Great work Kevin.

When I take a lesson, they always keep my strokes. WHY? I need them to teach me this , they never do!

Get rid of the stupid click-bait thumbnail - be mature - there is no need to cheat in tennis.

Kevin, I’ve seen several of your videos, but this one is amazing! I really appreciate the way you describe the mechanics/kinetics so that they are understandable. Would absolutely love to see your same type of analysis on the forehand. Thanks!

Have you compare Stefan Edberg's backhand with Stan's backhand. I mean every single shots on the back that include not just top spin, but slice, dink, lob as well.

If you already use a semi western forehead grip you automatically will have a backhand semi western grip when you use your one hand backhand. No need to change your grip from forehand to backhand and vice versa.

Nice to see another minimalist footwear fan. Finding tennis shoes with no heel rise & a generous forefoot is impossible

The key question is when does the racket transition from butt pointing at the ball to impact (racket tip coming through). I think most people (myself included) transition too early.

Coach, I have one question here that I haven't heard from any other coaches. Should I focus on starting my rotation from my non dominant shoulder or arm pulling my dominat arm with the racket to hit the ball or just pull the racket from the dominant leg, hip and so forth

Agree with everyone here, this is by far the best explanation video I have ever seen. First describing what we do wrong, how to correct the mechanics, align the shoulders. Excellent work.

I have watched some really good videos on serving and even some from professional players on line, but this has by far been the easiest to understand. Thanks and I hope I can get my son to understand this so he can take his game to the next level.

Cool, great explanation for someone exploring the one hand bh! Very clear. I was taught that the bh rotation is supination, with the thumb rotating outward on the extension. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Does the wrist stay locked in the 90° angle with the knuckles pointed up, or does the wrist ever relax through the contact zone where the wrist releases slightly?

Thank you! But why doesn’t anyone talk about how unique thiems straight arm preparation OHBH is? It is so unique / every other pro uses their arm bent in prep. And every other ohbh struggles with high bouncing balls (although some like roger 17 stepped in). Thiem is the only one who had all the freedom benefits of a ohbh and also had a very stable arm so he can hit across the batt almost like a baseball bat. I’ve got a bent arm prep too and it helps a lot with spin but not well on flatter balls - it’s got many more moving parts. So backfoot or over the shoulder is much harder. Thiems backhand could be a ohbh model for the future - I think it’s to do with him having a 2hbh early on before transitioning to a one hander

After watching the 1st half of the vid, b4 my match Saturday morning, about dominant shoulder up, & head to the side, I used it from the 1st serve to the end of the match. Gave me just enough extra momentum in those tight situations, to get it over the net. Not one double after 3 hrs. Now I just watched the 2nd half of the video, even more to help, looking forward 2 my next match, so I can do the full shoulder see-saw, thank you very much😘

genius. Thank you for the top spin tip. Many coach tell me “ why do You hit the ball flat” ,” whip it”, “ snap it”, “ low to high” which I have no idea. You made it so easy to understand. Thankssss

Very nice lesson. Good explanation. People need an inexpensive tripod and their cell phone to shoot video of themselves practicing this shoulder over shoulder move and then applying it to their serve.

99% of skilled players do this absolutely naturally and intuitive because this minimizes energy losses and unloads their wrist. you know: high school, physics, moment of inertia, J=∫r²dm. also 99% of skilled players know how to return the ball in proper direction with plenty of power and enough of spin without backswing at all using only abdominal and back muscles in combination with a little bit of footwork. the question is why 99% of coaches ever concentrate on purely decorative elements like this istead of teaching key essenses on tennis. is that because they don’t know them themselves, or because this way they can suck out money for years without any progress?
