Coffee stain have just privately confirmed with me that I was correct in my assumption that the generators will consume the same amount of fuel but produce more power. So we do see a 66% increase in power efficiency! 😊 *** UPDATE *** This is incorrect - just been confirmed in the Dev stream that there was confusion and these will require more fuel to run, but produce more power. So just less Gennies

I hate to bring this up but technically the amount of fuel consumed per operation is still the same, but the rate at which it is consumed is not confirmed to be the same. Couple this with what Snutt said about being able to delete extra fuel generators in the video, it should be assumed that the rate of consumption of fuel is actually increasing with the power delivered. Why tell us to delete extra fuel generators when clearly the rate doesn't change and you still need those fuel generators to fully consume your production? Anyways it's worded in an ambiguous way which will be addressed in the next state of dev

@@skillfulfighter23 Like I mentioned CS confirmed privately that the amount consumed per generator has stayed the same, but the power produced has increased. If you have a 50MW plant now, in theory you can delete a load of generators, because you'll be able to produce 50MW with less powerplants but you'll have fuel left over

the scale :) want to start building tracks and stations but don't even have basic factories down :) I guess there's a reason people take it slow. I should start a new game :)

While waiting for the 1.0 release I made myself a new game and refreshed my train skills thanks to some mods for quicker progression... now I can wait again for the release and see what changed and start anew

With sulfur you forgot to mention that they added 3 new nodes west of the blue crater, where one is pure, one normal and one impure. So you probably get more than 600/minute more.

"The swamp is a great place for beginners"? I heard that chuckle, the place is a pain even late game despite the ores available. My tactic was originally to build a bridge and fight from above. But then someone decided to allow spiders to freaking jump! NOPE!

How far have you progressed in the game because there are splitters/mergers you can unlock in the MAM and higher level belts by upgrading the hub

​@@wardulenaers I think he's talking about a 250% miner mk3 on pure node, it's 1200/min , no belt can do that, not even at 200% witch is 960/min

1.0 is supposed to bring changes to the conveyor belt system & Miner with the possibility of an extra mark of conveyor belt to play around with.

Overall I like them, encouraging me to spread out more to newer areas and reduce the overproduction when maximizing the output of a node. Both my computer and my sanity appreciate that.

In my entirely unexpert opinion, I think they're great! Speaking of unexpert, though: When 1.0 comes out could you do like a thorough overview of the map showing what places could be good for what kinds of factories? I thought those bits of this video were particularly helpful as someone who mostly plays this game because it looks pretty and I like decorating factories. I never know what to put where.

My go-to starting site has been the eastern Northern Forest right near where it touches the Rocky Desert. There is a spot where there are two copper, four iron and a limestone right there. And quartz and coal are nearby, as is caterium. Not sure how this will change in 1.0 I heard that the closest coal node - the one in the Northern Forest - will be removed for 1.0. I like to start there too. From what I can tell looking at the maps/video CS posted, the coal, 2 quartz, and the Sulphur nodes are going away, but the others don't SEEM to be affected by the changes.

@@wookiehowk That may actually be a good thing for me, as the area I place the HUB at is kind of cramped. The changes would force me to spread out sooner in early game.

Given the way the fastest belt is slower than the maximum output of a miner currently I think it's also important to remember that presumably there will either be some additional, faster belts or perhaps a change to specific numbers wrt each purity level. Either way I think we'll probably find ourselves adjusting more to the positioning and not so much the purity.

What we need is either faster belts or the ability to split directly from resource node without an intervening belt; ie have a splitter directly on the end of a miner.

⁠@@Heegahergeryou mean two output slots on mk3 miners and I agree with you. I think I saw somewhere that mk6 belts are being introduced, involving heat sinks as a part of their recipe.

It's also possible that each node will produce the same amount, but the ore will be compressed on higher tiers. So instead of 30/60/120 ore on a tier 1 miner, you will get 30x1/30x2/30x4 ore. Recipes would then use less ore of higher tier.

@@selachimorpha2000 Whether they provide it with 2 slots or the ability to snap a splitter directly on a single output will fix this. There currently is literally no benefit or reason from overclocking a Mk 3 miner on a pure mode to the max. I work in units of 300 out put so I only put Mk 2's on pures.

Would definitely like to see a 1.0 starting locations video as there's almost always something new to be found. RIP Northern Forest was the first thing I thought when seeing the video and still feel the same. I tend to start new saves relatively often, but it is definitely my favorite place to build since a bit of everything was basically all right there. I think the changes are probably for the best, but I'm still a bit disappointed that there won't be any point in revisiting some of my bigger builds.

When you mentioned the coal in the NW of Northern Forest being removed, I think you also missed the 4 normal nodes in the NE of Rocky Desert being lowered down to impure. A fairly hefty hit on coal power in that area.

I really hate the spiders in the swamp. But if you stay along the coast, build a big factory, and a decent sized bus, you can run through no problem. Best work quick in the daytime, though! If lucky, find a jetpack and/or Johnny in the mud, fly early.

Homing Rifle Ammo takes care of those spiders no problem. Can be done pretty early since it's all within the MAM Trees.

Well, they've messed up my steel factory, so I'm 100% going for a new save at 1.0 and I'm wondering why they didn't decide to realign all the nodes to the world grid. Cool changes, though. Screws for computers were a massive pain in the whatsit

Because we don't NEED all of them aligned to the world grid. Why do people seem to insist on everything aligning to the world grid? There are so SO many ways to connect paths, resource belts, factories that are on and off grid, or everything off grid together. Why restrict yourself to having factories only face north/south/east/west on a strict grid in an open world full 3d game? I really wish they'd remove the world grid. If I want to make a factory using one of the waterfalls as part of the look, I will build following the direction of the waterfall, not limit myself, having a corner hang off the edge because ohh this cliff is on a diagonal! Welp cant build what I want as the cliff and water don't follow a stupid grid! Go look at youtubers like Fluxo, or other creators and see what you are missing out on.

@@TAiiNE yes, but aligning everything to the world grid doesnt stop you from doing anything of those things. some people, myself included, want the miners aligned with the world grid. unless you are trying to say people who align to the world grid are wrong, in which case, I disagree, let people build how they want.

Also really looking forward to the changes in how foundations are treated, in that I mean that the tricks to get curved edges will be even more dramatically less intensive on the framerate.

Note: A developer in a private channel confirmed that for fuel generators the power output has changed, not the fuel energy. Thus, the rates will go up by 5/3 (Fuel 12->20 m3, Turbofuel 4.5->7.5 m3). The wording in the video was a bit misleading. So yeah, there not using the same amount of fuel, they are using more, we just need far less generators, as in half to create the same power we currently do in Update 8. So if you're using just normal fuel, as stated, each will need 20 fuel a minute up from 12, and will need 50 at 250% overclock. I had this fact mixed up to until we got a confirm from a dev.

I'm fine with the changes, and do not mind having to fix my factory (around 350 hours in, completed phase 4). What's a bit more frustrating to me is that you apparently can't play through the story in an existing save (certain triggers won't activate). I am not sure if I'm patient enough to play through the whole thing again just for the story 😅 Maybe with advanced game settings (all alts unlocked) and speeding up process with a save editor. Haven't decided yet. My "main" save, that I'm probably gonna fix, was a legit playthrough, so I don't feel bad to cheat a little to just play through the story ^^

one good thing about them nerfing the pure nodes and adding more impure and normal nodes is overclocking since you can't fully overclock a pure node miner due to belt speeds.

1:35 I will lose my mind if these two nodes are changed. I use them as an early start for quartz in my Dune Desert factory. The node changes will certainly make for some interesting starting areas. Dune Desert is my go to for starting with all the iron nodes.

I really love the fuel generator changes. I built a big Turbo Fuel plant for myself in the red Forrest and can definitely use that boost in power!! Thanks for the video!

Don't forget they did mention that they solved the problem of fully overclocked mk3 miners on pure nodes, so we can assume the 780/min limit has been removed and these can now output 1200/min. It was a very brief mention though, something like "is the mk3 miner limit fixed?" "yes" I forget the exact wording in the question. Sry I don't have a reference, it was in one of the dev streams on Twitch :S Basically, if you fully exploit all nodes in update 8 and fully exploit all nodes in 1.0, you will have more of everything in 1.0.

From what I understood about the Fuel Gen change was that while power production is going up, so was fuel consumption accordingly, so the ultimate result is less fuel gen buildings needed to produce the same amount of power.

You may be on to something with the potential for Mk 3 miners being fixed for pure nodes, since they are downgrading a lot of pure nodes..

I feel like this has always been the case. Anything more than normal nodes and none of the tier 1 logistics can utilize them. I save all my pure nodes for late game.

i had my main factory in the swamp area in my last major game run save save so it looks and the desert area with the two pure iron nods by the waterfall that got rad rocks last update made it a bit dicy to start but its a mid player start point. but with how everything is going might try an north east start run on 1.0 or might start more south west have yet to decide when one 1.0 comes out. in the mean time i am playing an the new Techtonica 0.5 update that just came out then will be playing 7 days 2 die when it hit 1.0 so will be playing in the wait for 1.0 of this game since i kind of got burned out playing this game for over 15000hr over the span of the builds of the game i am finally getting in the mood to play the game again.

The first thing that comes to mind is a greater need for power. More nodes = more extractors = more nuclear. The alternate fuel rod recipe may actually be necessary going forward depending on the scope of one's factories.

i think the node thing is to solve 2 problems or at least mask 1 : 1. by reducing the number of pure you increasing the value available by unlocking what is available. Meaning part of Pure nodes isnt locked behind tier 3 miner limit. So im betting no real change on them. or if they did makes them more valuable and this was to reduce total from pure. 2. Possibly also Forcing people to use areas that weren't really used before and spreading out their factories.

To be fair, unless 1.0 plans a belt tier faster than 780 or is adding a 2nd output port on Mk. 3 miners, subbing pure nodes for impures actually raises the throughput using (fully clocked) Mk. 3 miners if the overall theoretical maximum ore volume is maintained (the global comparison in terms of total number of impure nodes stays the same or increases). It does mean more power consumption, however, due to the need to build more fully clocked Mk. 3 miners.

Do you think there is a benefit to the changes in the uranium nodes? I feel like the swamp and water off that coast is a prime spot for a nuclear facility and it feels like getting uranium is just more inconvenient now. What am I missing?

Looks like no love for my cliff side factory by the oil in the center north.... I'm glad they are speeding up transport unlocks and resources. By the time I get trains currently I already tend to have everything being belted or trucked in making trains more of a flourish than a necessity

I feel like logically, screws should replace plastic in the computer recipe, but could be removed from the hmf recipe. Circuit boards already require plastic, right? Similarly, trains should need the extra support hmf would provide, but not computers. Trains predated computers by at least a century.

The trains are electric though so computers made sense. They would need to be powered by steam and coal to support your point. That could be interesting though!

I think you're incorrect on the fuel efficiency. I believe that fuel generators consume the fuel faster now.

(turbo)Fuel was already arguably better than nuclear. If they increase fuel (and turbofuel) efficiency, it's no longer arguable. Nuclear consumes WAY too many resources across the whole process, so unless you are actually burning Plutonium and dealing with the waste some other possibly exploity or cheaty way, the only reasons to make nuclear is for its own sake (ie you want to make a nuclear plant because "fun"), or because you are absolutely desperate for power after using up all the available oil and sulfur.

they did say that they are not going to reveal anything from the new content. so the gasses and new oil uses are probably coming in the tiers that are not in the current game.

i think they meant the fuel generator will get better so you wont need to place 200 of them, i think they will use the same fuel to power ratio but just produce more power for each generator

I just spent all last week building a full 2 rail loop of the map and a iron factory capable of handling 37 mk5 belts (I play with all nodes pure mod to make the math easy) so now it's like... all that effort is shot

It feels weird having 1.0 releasing while there's still MASSIVE holes all over the map where players can fall through geometry, swimming doesn't work, geometry doesn't match the collision boundaries, etc

Most importantly, are the nodes *finally* aligned to world-grid ? Please? Pretty pretty please with sprinkles on top? The way the nodes are a few degrees off hurts me on a visceral level.

the boost of coal nodes and oil power production is a clear indication there is a new item using coal in tier 9 we can think that new item is going to need a lot of power, knowing there is quantum computer in tier 9 i bet on synthetic diamonds production in the accelerator with the new coal nodes.

overall, I dont think coffee stain could do anything to ruin this gem of a game for me. more resources with less purity? fine with me, overall I find purity overrated. as for the mk 3 miner..... if I recall in one of the QAs they said they did have a solution.... but they arent going to tell us what it is until 1.0... so in my mind that means we wont like it lol. my guess is they reduced the amount of ore gained at the tiers. so fixing the problem doesnt mean we will get more resources. remember when they fixed the 2 seater explorer and instead of adding the ability to carry 2 people, they removed a seat from the model lol. thats what im talking about. if they make this change, it will be fine with me, but I can imagine other people being upset.

I always thought the haul to fuel generators was way too long. By the time you put a bunch of effort into making 20,000kw, you're ready to jump right into nuclear. Glad they made it available earlier.

Stop limiting yourself to the world grid. It's a hindrance and I wish they'd remove it. Why would you only want all your factories to face the same directions when you have a fully open 3D world? Oh this area would look good with a factory! But oh no it's cliffs and landscape don't follow a stupid grid so I cant fit anything here! If only I could ROTATE MY FACTORY to follow the landscape then it would! Oh this waterfall would look cool with a dam over it but OH NO cant because IT DON'T FOLLOW A STUPID GRID. Go look up some videos, theres MORE then enough ways to align and connect on grid to off grid and off grid to off grid. It makes the game far more easier to play and work with when you don't have to fuss because something don't align to a restriction your only giving yourself.

@@TAiiNE Bro chill... If you don't like the world grid then don't fucking use it. The rest of us like it so you can deal with it, it doesn't hurt you at all. We all have our own play styles and I use a hybrid between using the grid and not using it but people have the right to play the way they want.. They bought their copy of the game, you didn't buy it for them.

We're the "total available" calculations made, including the belts limiting the max you can pull from a node? I'd rather have 4 impure nodes, over one pure... WAY more resources....

the problem with that calculation is that we dont know what the solution to the mk3 miner problem is. did they add a new mk belt, or 2 outputs? or did they change the miner outputs? something else? until we can answer that question we cant really calculate the total change by the nodes, and we wont know that till 1.0

@@marcbennett9232 I think we can assume full utilization of pure nodes with the update, if they "solve" the Miner Mk.3 problem in a way that still means you can't fully utilize a pure node at 250%, it's not solved.
