Tote Bag With Velcro Closure: 14" x 17", 2 different fabrics for the outside, lining, Pellon heavy iron-on interfacing, Velcro (or magnetic snap) closure, very detailed instructions.

Hi. I LOVE your tutorials. I have a request. Could you please make a tutorial on a bag with pockets - like the one you made w 6 pockets. BUT zone where the pockets don’t go all the way down to the bottom. So basically 6 pockets about 7-8 inches finished on the outside of the bag. OR can you write back and explain to me how to do this. Cheryl this video show's the wrong video that I wanted, all tho I like this one also.And will make this bag also. But the video I'm looking for has white premade handles that you mention could be purchased at Joanne's.The fabric also is turquoise and white wide stripe horizontal. It's a large tote bag and that's what I'm looking for. If you could direct me to that video I would appreciate it. When you have the time. Thank you Marion and Bartley

I'm confused on the yardage for this bag...only 1/4 yard of "A" fabric to cut out 2 pieces 14.5x18, 2 straps 3"x30" and 2- 2.5x5.5 flap closures??? Then 1 yard of fabric "B" to cut 1- 18"x14"??

Hi Nancy. I believe there's an error in the fabric requirements. WOF for Fabric A and B is 46". If Fabric A is the "Live, Laugh & Love" fabric, it is used only for the top part of the bag. So cut 2 pieces that measure 14-1/2"x18" each. If I'm correct in my thinking, you'd need at least 1/2 yd of Fabric A. You can get the 2 lengths (14-1/2" x 2 pcs = 29") out of the 46" selvedge to selvedge. To get the 18" width, you need 1/2 yard, which is exactly 18," so there can be no waste or error in cutting. I'd get 5/8 yard to be safe. Fabric B is the striped fabric, and if you look at the video as to what she's used it for, you'll see: 1) the bottom of the bag (1 pc of 14"x18") 2) handles/straps (2 pcs of 3"x30" each) 3) flap (2 pcs of 2-1/2" 5-1/2" each) I think you need 5/8 yards of Fabric B. Because you want the bottom of the bag stripes to be vertical, you'll have to cut the fabric accordingly, 18"w x 14"L. The stripes for the handles go horizontally, so 2 pcs at 3"w is 6" of additional fabric. Add your 6" to the 14" and that's 20". That's a little more than half a yard. So I'd get 5/8 yard to be safe. The 2 flap pieces can easily be cut from the fabric adjacent to your handles or bottom bag piece. I've made this bag once before, and it turned out great! Am making it again and refining the instructions for future reference.

I'm a ditz for asking this question. Is it 14" wide and 17" L or vice versa? Just by looking at it, it looks like 17" wide and 14" long.

Hi Yolie. The bag finished size is 16" wide at the top, 12" wide at the bottom, from front to back it is 5" deep, and 11 1/4" high. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍

Hello. I got my fabric and supplies to get started on this cute tote but when I watched the tutorial I'm confused the list calls for cutting fabric B to 18" 28" but as the tutorial progresses you say to cut fabric B 18" x 14'. Could you please clarify this before I start cutting? Thanks so much.
