In recent videos I have swapped my Jaguar XK8 springs for Adamesh lowered and uprated items. I also put in new Bilstein dampers and new shock mounts. In this video I show the tangible and subjective results of the swap and give my full and unbiased opinion on the whole project

Having been privileged to have had a brief drive in Purdey, I can confidently state that the change is now tangible from the driver's seat than is visible from the outside. Purdey feels incredibly tight and sharp now and noticeably more stiff ( in a good way) than my x100 coupé. I'm seriously thinking of switching mine over during its winter layover.

Looking sweet John, 👌🏻 I've been given an xkr 1997, it's been off the road for a few years and your videos are going to be my bible throughout the next couple of years of restoring my jag.

Hi John.. you may remember me from Oct 22 videos and my XK8 with issues on MOT because of that (missing) rear fog light. My XK8 has lowered springs as well and not only I enjoy the ride but it looks also fabulous. Thanks for very inspiring videos, going to enjoy mine even further!

Excellent video. Please keep us apprised on whether or not the height settles further and how those shock mounts hold up.

Hi John, thank you for giving the spring colours most helpful, I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but your car has excessive negative camber, this must be rectified, rear driveshafts need to be shimmed. The front will require camber adjustment bolt on track control arm and the caster angle will be effected by the lower springs, went through this a good few years ago. Anyway best of luck most enjoyable videos.

A "before-and-after" comparison is extremely informative. The 6 week time lapse provides not only an opportunity to decide whether the look is what you really wanted but also how the driving experience has changed. Thanks for the honest appraisal. Mine's a CATS car, so thanks for the warning regarding additional costs, although as it's a late car, so it seems to ride lower/flatter anyway. Glad you're pleased with the upgrade.

The car is looking good John. My car seems lower than yours still as you have witnessed yourself. My car has just passed an mot and I asked the examiner if the front springs an suspension are ok and he said they are perfectly normal. I find that I can not get a trolley jack under the front jacking point to jack the car up. I need a small jack to lift it up enough to do this. Heart video John 👍

The only thing i can think of Phil is a) a previous owner already lowered it. b) the front subframe mounts have failed and so the entire Body shell is sitting lower relative to the wheels

Once again a very good video. Thanks. Having already changed my front and rear shock absorbers I am now upset because I didn't install the Adamesh springs. That is.😢

My mates 2002 XKR convertibles rear springs are marked orange too. By coincidence the registration when he bought it in summer was ‘DEE’ ! Personal reg on it now though

It looks better because the tires of the XKE were well hidden by the wheelwells. Thanks for going closer to "the most beautiful car in the world", going XKEish.

I'll be honest, it's hard to see much difference. However, from your measurements its seems a lot of expense for between half and inch or an inch difference. Plus for me I would have issues with speed humps where I live.

I agree that the visual change is subtle Kevin and Im quite happy about that personally as I was scared it was going to look like my next step was to fit underbody blue LED's. But yes If you do want a very significant 'slammed' look then this experiment proves you will need to go for a 40mm plus drop

Thank you for another informative video. If I may ask, why did you go for an MK1 x100 and not for one of the later/latest models? The reason for purchasing my 99 model was the more "classic" look - but sometimes I miss the xenon HLs and Jewel rear lights.

I prefer the purer more delicate look of the early cars. Don't get me wrong, all of them are gorgeous. And the latest ones are far more aggressive looking which holds its own appeal. Also the seats in early cars are for me, part of the car's look and styling. The Recaro's in later cars are undeniably excellent but look very square and bulky in comparison. There is not a model or year within the x100 timeline I would not happily own though👍

It will drop down a bit more once the springs have bedded in, normally takes a couple of thousand miles before they completely settle, depending how aggressive you throw they car weight through corners.

I would think the colour coding is just for the installer to know what is a rear and which is front spring.

Sorry without a tape measure hard to tell the difference. IMO John surely the level of you driveway should make no difference from side to side the distance between the center of wheel to arch, me thinks the suspension needs to settle.
@ToTheGarage

our drive has all sorts of hollows and high spots so the issue is the effective twisting action, hence needing to average across both sides of the axle. I agree the change is subtle though, and for many it would be a disappointment, for me its a relief😁. I think it will settle a little further though.
