The outro was the result of them keeping the tape rolling at the end of the song and the band just jamming out. Steve Lukather's guitar solo in that outro is one of my favorites. The guy is insanely good, a really nice guy and funny as hell.

@@alansmith7626 Yeah, I think about that interview every time I hear one of his/Toto's songs now. Rick Beato is an amazing interviewer. The interviews he's doing with the legends of music is like a history channel of music. His interview with Sting, Bernard Purdie, Brian May, Larry Carlton, Peter Frampton, Pat Metheny... this list goes on. So glad that history is being preserved.

Well, "Luke" can sometimes be full of himself but he's still very sympathetic at the same time. Had problems with his wife and partying but he's carried on. One of the best guitar players back in the day with rocking and jazzy licks. Just iconic. The drums/groove, the vocals, Dave's piano, Steve's guitar and so many different elements.
@testodude

Steve didn't know David would take off with that stride piano at the end of the take. Steve just improvised over it. After the take, Steve and David asked the control room "did you get all that?" Producer said "every note". By the way, this was take TWO. Easy as pie when you have all the talent in the world.

Killer song, band and musicianship! "Rosanna" peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard magazine Hot 100 pop singles chart, held back from the No. 1 spot by the new wave synth-pop hit "Don't You Want Me" by the Human League and then by the massive "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor from the "Rocky III" movie soundtrack. You might also like Toto's hits "I'll Be Over You" and "Make Believe" and "I Won't Hold You Back" and "Good for You."

Check out Toto's song Hydra (prog rock/cinematic rock) from their second album Hydra. Perfect to listen to with headphones. There's a lot going on musically and listen carefully to the beginning...maybe even turn up the volume for the first 33 seconds. It sets the tone for the song with very cinematic synths and sound effects of water dripping and a dragon's breath. I know that may sound nerdy, but it is a great song. Written by the entire band and features a bit of everything you love about Toto.

1982-1985...INSANE hits everywhere, Madonna Def Leppard, Prince, Michael, Huey, Bryan Adams, Genesis/Phil Collins solo, Ozzy, Duran Duran, Van Halen, tons of random new wave bands like Human League/Don't You Want Me, tons of metal bands doing a lot of their best like Maiden, Priest, Motley, Ratt, Dio, lots of 70's people still doing great shit like Lionel Ritchie/Bowie/Hall and Oates/Elton/Stones/Floyd...and there's even more, country was at a peak with Dolly and Kenny and lots of others, rap was starting to get big, and then there's John Cougar Melloncamp, Bruce, Adam Ant, Billy Idol, Foreigner, The Police, early U2...it's just fucking endless. Check the top 40s, and top 100 lists during that time frame, it's nuts.

Africa was a HUGE song. In that year’s Grammy Awards Toto opened the show with a live version of it. Toto couldn’t physically be at the show so it was fixed for them to perform from wherever they were on tour. It was that huge. I’m sure it won at least one Grammy also. I could be wrong on that but I don’t think so. Try Asia! Great great band formed when Toto broke up.

David is one of the brothers, well known, whom was married to "Friends" alum Courteney Cox Then there is also the other living sister, Patricia, a very noteworthy television actress and Academy Award winner. I just remember when this song came out and hit the radio waves it was a nonstop talk all about the song that Toto wrote for that famous girl~ Rosanna! If I recall correctly, somewhere down along the line I'm not sure if it came directly from Rosanna or from one of the guys in the band, but someone said that she did inspire them with the name title, however not the lyrics. I believe she broke up with the band member shortly after the release. I dig your reaction guys~ oh those faces! 👍 😊

Just saw Toto in concert last night. Lukather is the last original member left performing in the band. But David Paich is still part of the band as musical director. Because of his health, he can’t travel as much with the band. He will occasionally pop in at a venue and play with the band. The singer is now Joseph Williams who started singing on the seventh one album. He does a great job as well. Check out some songs with his voice as well. Pamela, Stop Loving You, Till the End, Burn, Orphan just to name a few. But last night they came out right away blasting with the song Afraid of Love. They played Hold the Line, Rosanna, I’ll Supply the Love, Home of the Brave, Africa, I’ll Be Over You and more. They are still such a great band. They picked outstanding musicians to play drums, keyboards, percussion and bass. If you guys have a chance to get out and see them live, please do so. Amazing musicians ALWAYS!

There are four bands that experimented with music, Toto, Supertramp, Pink Floyd and Alan Parsons Project. They were real musicians making authentic tunes, hope you enjoy them as much as I did back then.
