Toton TMD, the bigget depot in the midlands and home to the DBS class 66 and 67's and with many other visitors. Nice to see some different liveries with 66004 in green climate hero livery, 67014 in silver/red, and the Royal loco 67005. Sad to see all the stored class 60's rotting away.
Please note that with all of our drone flyovers, no laws are broken and no animals are harmed! The footage is taken obeying all legal flight restrictions for the area, the category of the drone, and in full compliance of the current CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) regulations for drone usage (Oct-22). The pilot, operator and drone are fully registered with the Civil Aviation Authority.

Those class 60’s, wish we could save some. But they be all cut up one day. Nice to see a big depot! Usual its all built on by houses and they squeezed in a corner

Cracking video, not a Grid in sight, remember it in the 80's thru to them being withdrawn, so much activity & varied traffic, Summer holidays on the hill overlooking the depot was cracking, who ever thought it was a good idea to shut them 60's down needs locking up.

Thank you 😊. I remember it too in the 80s , was a brilliant depot back then, and still quite good today considering. Such a shame about the 60s. Thanks for watching 👀

Great video I went there in the 80’s with my dad when the class 58’s just came out , it is a great place , seems crazy you could get a permit and just be allowed to wonder around the depots in those days, we did most of the big depots in England and Scotland…. Great times …. Keep up the good work.

Thank you, and thanks for watching 👀. The 80's really were the good old days for depots, I remember them well too. Happy memories

Great showing is this. I only ever went there once when I was on the railway at Buxton. It's still an amazingly big place, and I wonder what's ever going to happen with those stored 60s.

Really enjoyed the video mate. If I was in a position to do so. I would have brought 5 Class 60's to Ireland for heavy freight and had these rebuilt by GE on the inside with new parts. Cosmetically they would not look any different to a normal 60 but they would sound and look different on the inside.

Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. You should definitely get the 60s to Ireland. Not sure of the value of them but they're never going to be doing anything over here and it's such a waste. They'd be perfect for heavy freight too 👍

I’m not doubting you but, you do know Ireland has a 1600 mm broad gauge?
@BritishRail60062

@@twinboo529 They would need new bogies from the get go and GE would be able to able to make new traction motors and to replace the Sepex CPU's with the IFD system from GE that would improve the reliability of them for heavy freight. I would use the same traction motors as used on the GEVO locomotives that are AC three phase. Loading gauge is not an issue as the new bogies would match the Irish loading gauge. Also companies such as Hitachi, Alstom and Wabtec make adjustable wheelsets. Hope this helps.

@@miniature-airlines They would very much have all the same technology as the GEVO locomotives but inside the Class 60 shell. Another thing to note as well is that Yamaha and Toyota has made a combustion turbo engine for cars. So I am sure something can be done with locomotives with the adjusted injectors for hydrogen fuel, the GE 7FDL16 could be used in the Class 60 with uprated hp to 4400hp. New bogies and traction motors would allow 75mph on freight and 95mph on passenger if the latter would be required for what ever reason. HEP however would be needed for passenger work and being a solid heavy locomotive. They would have more than enough beef to eat the hills of Ireland and Northern Ireland for that matter without breaking a sweat :).

@@BritishRail60062 Again, not trying to be a downer, but, would we not just repatriate a 1600 mm gauge GE ES58ACi locomotive from Brazil?

I did like your drone footage. Could have done with a drone when on the "hill" 11th October 2021. Albeit was at the open day with rail Riders 18th June this year. Did see several celebrity locos that are in my model collection.

What I would have given for drone technology in the 1980's!! Lost count how many times I was asked to leave MPDS at the time. Excellent footage though.

Thanks. I was only thinking the same yesterday. Would love to see depots like Eastfield, Stratford and Canton in the 80s from the air. Still it used to be fun bunking the depots back then. Not a chance nowadays
