Hasegawa seems an excellent, cool-headed penalty-taker, but Greenwood is usually reliable in that department too, and it's hard to see the latter as the senior player who is (I think) City's in-match penalty-taker being happy with loading the pressure of taking the opening shoot-out spot-kick onto Hasegawa's shoulders.

@@9ertschHasegawa is responsible for taking free kicks and penalty kicks for the Japanese national team in international games against teams such as the United States, Brazil, and Canada. I have never missed a PK. Look back at past international matches.

I wanted City to lose but Spurs didn’t play all that well until Beth England and Rosella Ayane were on. Not good for City for Keating to make a huge error but also Greenwood and Kelly, who are normally assured and brilliant at penalties, to have theirs saved.

Interesting in the shoot-out: Alex Greenwood tried to replicate the pen she scored in last year's World Cup R16 shoot-out against Nigeria, but Beth England chose to hit quite a different kind to the one she took in that WC shoot-out.

Yeah, a reprise of the penalty style she used successfully against Nigeria, but not struck as hard and not as well placed. (I think Kelly's method is chosen to eliminate worries about the 'keeper correctly guessing the direction interfering with her focus: if she hits it hard enough and accurately enough towards the top corner she favours, it's going to go in regardless of whether or not the goalie goes the right way and gets a touch on it.)@@charlotte8487

A very enjoyable game to watch & a nice bean pie at half time too. But we didn't understand why they had the penalties at the end where there were no spectators? We were at the other end and could hardly see what was going on.

At a penalty shoot out, they toss for ends to kick in, l assume then Man City won coin toss and elected the empty stands than face a full stand of Tottenham fans.

Thanks. Maybe but I was in the opposite end and it was 75% City fans who were much noisier than the 25% Spurs fans. So maybe Spurs won the toss and elected for the empty end as they had some fans at that end of the side stand.

The mistake was made by the defenseman. She should just head the ball away, instead of try to leave it for goalie who was out of the box and cannot used her hands. The same defenseman gave a bad pass which was intercepted by Chelsea resulted in the only goal a few days ago. It is this defenseman that caused 2 cups lost in a few days. The goalie is no good either.

Not to rub salt in wounds but this was definitely the second time this season I saw Khiara come way out of goal and miss contact with the ball. She makes me nervous on moves like that. At the same time, she's made great saves for us. So I hope she keeps working on making this one part of her game more solid.

I had to miss the full match, which in retrospect is a bit lucky because that equalizer was gutting. Honestly, when the video went from 6th minute to 96th I thought for a moment there was a video editing error.

All the game that I have seen of MC C that GK always making childish mistakes, always very bad decision making and positioning. Question does MC C has any other GKs? They have to invest and spend money in a good GK.

@@antgonz4436 Keating currently has the best goalkeeping stats for the season in the WSL - substantially better than, say, Mary Earps. She's young and still learning her trade (and the occasional embarrassing mistakes are certainly memorable) but City are still in the title race in large part because of her.
