After about 3 weeks of owning, 360ish miles of riding - here are some of my likes and dislikes about the Kawasaki Eliminator 450

Nice exhaust, sounds good. The factory one is so unsightly!

looks were good, but a little to loud and ended up going back to stock until I can find a proper slip on I like.

I just got this bad boy ! So far I love it ! I bought it for the gas factor, snd my commute is pretty short and I have very little time on the street AlwSys had dirt bikes , so this was the best option for me snd the cost was cheap enough that I will not be in debt for years then I’m going to make the decision to upgrade to a much bigger bike this way I will have much more time on the street under my belt

Many people say it's a great bike to learn on. I can see that. There are only a few quirks as time goes on that can be annoying, but for commuting cheaply, 50-60mpg is nice. I did just trade mine for a Suzuki GSX8R because I wanted more power/tq and fun, but if I was in a position to keep the eliminator for taking to work and back, I probably would have. It rides well, but when it's time to show it the corners at a faster speed, well, it takes a bit of body shifting to get it to do what you want and feel confident the bikes going to stick.

You can't say that nobody likes the rear fender because I really like it a lot.
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
@@jlrutube1312 you like having lights dangling over the tire? Maybe you should watch the tail tidy install I did and tell me what looks better.
@jlrutube1312Ай бұрын
@@TougeSolo Okay, Sorry .... I thought you actually meant the fender.... meaning the white part. I think it would look bad to remove the white part. I watched the video you recommended and now I see what you mean. Have a good one.

I own an Eliminator myself, and I am VERY interested in that exhaust. Can you show a setup video if you haven't already?
@LittleTas12Ай бұрын
Nevermind, I saw the video. Gonna watch the hell out of that.

Awesome bike

Can you stand on the footpegs while riding?

My riding style is that I am getting 56 miles to the gallon too. The only problem I have had is the gas tank gauge. It seems to only measure in gallons and one minute it is a full tank and the next minute( 56 miles or more) it shows 2 gallons. The next 56 miles it shows one gallon..... Has anyone else noticed that change?
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
@beeg693 gas moves around the tank so the level changes as you ride.
@jlrutube1312Ай бұрын
@@TougeSolo Does the bike have a fuel petcock and a reserve tank? If so, you can just ride until you start to run out of gas and then switch the petcock over to reserve and then start looking for a gas station. Once you learn that your bike goes let's say 150 miles on a tank you can also just reset the trip each time you fill up and then when you get close to the miles it usually runs out of the main tank you will know you are getting close to needing to switch to the reserve tank. Even if you don't have a reserve tank you can just reset the trip each time you fill up and then you will know when you are getting close to needing to fill up.
@beeg693Ай бұрын
@@TougeSolo Okay. Thanks. I just thought tank gauges were better in the 1980's. I don't recall the shifting inaccuracy from my 1983 Kawasaki 305 in 1992.
@beeg693Ай бұрын
@@jlrutube1312 My bike doesn't have that old on, off and reserve lever below the tank on the Eliminator.
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
There are no reserves, but the trip meter is exactly what I do. I do the same thing on my car, but it's more for fuel monitoring when on the bike. Gas gauges on bikes are rarely accurate enough to trust past half a tank, so once I start nearing 130 miles, I know it's due for fuel. With the car, meh it's just mainly the fun in seeing how many miles I can get per tank/fill up. Since I drive a hybrid and a bike sub 50mpg fuel consumption is my new standard! lol
@Juergen732Ай бұрын
The frame is hideous, the off center gauge ridiculous, and do you scrape the footpegs in tight turns? I think I'll just keep my z400.
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
never scraped once. And you can't complain about a frame when you ride a naked bike. Just saying. But ride and buy and keep what you like. I'm not a loyalist and don't expect everyone to have the same opinion as me.
@Juergen732Ай бұрын
@@TougeSolo that's good to know that you haven't scraped the pegs. I'm a 70 year old biker and that low seat height and the light weight does seem attractive..thank you for your prompt reply.
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
I just very recently traded in the eliminator for a Suzuki GSX8R (sport bike). I had my reasons, but it's a bit of a culture shock getting back on a sport bike. The low seat height and light weight made the bike very manageable. I'm very near 40 myself, so tossing a heavy bike around isn't exactly as easy as it would have been in my early 20's. Factory work most of my life has taken a toll on my body, so i'm honestly near my limit with the 8R. Sport bikes are more my thing, but if I could have afforded to keep both, I would. Because there's something about riding a comfortable, light weight cruiser to work. If the engine wasn't so buzzy after 6K rpms, it'd been a lot harder to trade it in. But going to a better balanced engine and 270 degree firing order is a big improvement. The extra HP/TQ is nice too for those fits of needing speed.
@Juergen732Ай бұрын
@@TougeSolo yeah I get that same vibration on my z400. It's good for short canyon runs up the local mountain passes. My other bike is a Suzuki Burgman 650 which I use for longer rides. Your GSX8R must be a blast! Are you going to post some content on that bike?
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
I'll do the same as I do on all my vehicle purchases. Be it car or bike. I've done some videos with the GSX-8R already. But I'll do some more reviews, some raw driving/riding videos, and some upgrade videos. I like to share in hopes that if it helps even one person decide or figure something out, then it's all worth it. And I'll never do things just for views. Just doing videos I enjoy doing. :D Thanks for the comments and such.

Looks awful, just been looking at RE, beautiful and sound great but far less tech than this model.
@jlrutube1312Ай бұрын
Personally I love the look but I also love the look of the Royal Enfield. They are just different animals.
@TougeSoloАй бұрын
Looks are always subjective from person to person. I like the look of the blended styles personally. But I've been also looking at Royal Enfield and Triumph bikes as a second bike or trading in this for a upgrade. Personally I do like the Cont and INT RE's as well as the Bonneville from Triumph. If you can live with British bike quirks, I say go for it. I'm not a loyalist to bike brands. The only thing you'll see me stay away from is HD and the China bikes. Other than that - they all offer their own unique experiences and have strong points. Its more about finding the best bike for you personally.
