I would guess they make these for about $2 and sell them for $200. That how they afford it. You probably have to pay the shipping on that warranty return and delivery. So it costs you $12-15 every time you replace it. I can buy at least 20 disks for that much. I don't see it outlasting 20 disks. It still wears, even if diamond.

When that blade breaks “you know your fecked up” When a lightweight normal blade breaks “you don’t know how to use it”
@ahobby8 ай бұрын
Thiissss. It's really simple for those who don't know. You don't need to put pressure on the material. Just let the machine do the work and intermittently allow for some cool off time, don't keep it against the material (assuming steel) continuously. Last tip, wear your PPE, no matter the experience, it's not worth losing what you don't yet cherish. To comment on these thick blades: they're great until you really let it hook onto something or the blade fatigues. I would fear that blade much more than the thin and brittle compacted slicers.

Nah, a lot of the time yeah. But I've had lots of bad batch discs that explode as soon as you touch material or even when you start the grinder. You also have times when they bind up in tubes, thick steel or tight places because they flex from speed and light pressure. That being said if a normal disc binds up it will just shatter, if this one binds up it will more than likely jump out of your hand and come back on you then you're fkd....

They have been in business for years, and they ask no questions when you send back the disc. Diamond doesn't keep a blade cool; diamond can't defy the laws of thermodynamics.
@inceptori10 ай бұрын
Diamond has a very low coefficient of friction, so with the same force, it rubs less, generating less heat.

It’s guaranteed for life how much will you spend on disks in the next year?
@richardmccann481511 ай бұрын
@@slayer2698maybe half that. It doesn't cut steel as fast as abrasive wheels, and you will be stuck waiting for your replacement to arrive.

I’m not convinced the lifetime warranty thing is this simple. The first question they probably ask is “did you keep the blade cool?” which is an impossible scenario to prove. No matter what they can always tell you “well the blade wore down because you ran it hot” and deny the warranty…

I don't have any of these metal blades, but I bet that its the same as any other metal - if it gets hot you'll have blue marks. There's always some sort of weird stipulation in warranties for tools.

This would be a great ad on KZfaq. Something I'D ACTUALLY WANT to buy. Unlike that indefinite amount of garbage that is shown in KZfaq ads. This has more uses, is more durable and, the most important, is safer than the competition's products.

Their annual report shows the company was started in 2010, hopefully this is some credibility in the lifetime warranty, with so many companies promising them and then claiming bankruptcy and going under, I really hope this company changes the dynamic

The company was actually started by a revolutionary war soldier, they didn’t incorporate until 1988 though. I’d say they arnt going out of business anytime soon lol

I've tried them a bit. Don't cut steel brilliantly and suck for grinding cause they're too flat.
@tfred212911 ай бұрын
@Iaintwoke I would be primarily using it on pipe, both carbon and stainless. I like a flat disc to bevel with, but for that price I don't think I could. Thanks for the input
@AlpaChinoDespacito10 ай бұрын
Haven’t used this one but used something very similar and I still prefer just normal cutting disc, they go through metal faster and idk how people blow up cutting disc so often as long as you put the blade on properly and cut at straight angle you’ll be fine.
@tfred212910 ай бұрын
@AlpaChinoDespacito I've had it happen, but it was because I didn't change the wheel when e should've. Most of them will feed under their own weight! Folks try to bow up on them to hard

Problem with diamond for cutting/grinding steel: the iron absorbs carbon from the diamond, slowly wearing it down. It will hold much longer in ceramic or concrete than in steel.
