Around my property I have 5 off grid systems. The workshop space has been using an 18k inverter from Lux Power coupled with an Ethos big battery. There is also an Orient Power inverter and battery in the workshop. The lawn mower shed also has an off grid system. 5k battery with 5k inverter. My top shop has a nice system with 6k inverter and 15k battery. Lastly in my house I have an 8k inverter with 15k battery.
Check out the Lux power inverters and Ethos battery here:

I just finished my upgrade 15-04 2024, the old system was only 24v 110w solar panels with a very old inverter from 2000watt from the year 2000, not in use more for at least 8 years. the new system is also 24 volt on the output but the input from the solar is now 36volts with lager battery's and a modern inverter, a new setup with 2 pumps running on solar, now my toilet and garden are energy free. (and 2 new 24v solar groups how spit in four 12v solar groups, this powers my house lighting with led lights. 5 generation.) ( 4 panels and 8 battery's). € 400 1 suction pump to pump up groundwater. second hand € 175 for a pressure increasing pump. second hands € 300 two solar panels of 310 watts at 36 volts, 9 amp max each in parallel. € 190 four batteries 110ah 12v (2 in series) (2 in parallel) from the iron scrapyard. € 200 two large batteries as a buffer. secondhand. € 350 a Tristar 45 charger. new € 75 a second-hand switch box. small € 50 a second-hands switch box. big € 275 inverter from 24v to 230v 2000watt. new € 150 for fuses and circuit breakers. new € 100 for the wiring. new € 125 two automatic switches for battery and mains. new € 50 WiFi / smartphone controller. new

An upgraded inverter is nice! And more battery power is the best! Since filming this video I have upgraded my house system with the new EG4 18k. So many nice features. The best one yet is how quiet it runs. silent until 5000w goes through it. Congrats on the upgrade!

Thank you for watching. coming up next I have a full install of the EG4 18k and Ethos battery.

@DIYvolts good content but its amazing how much more research you need to do with the inverters you have, for example the LuxPowertek 12k hybrid inverter do not need a transfer switch you can backfeed your main panel directly even with live grid power coming in, the inverter will support all the loads in your ESP load and grid sides simultaneously and if you do not have enough VP or battery then the grid will over the extra, and you only need to keep just your real critical loads on the ESP, just have your CT’s at the main panel and setup the inverter for zero export and it will not back feed the grid.

Also the LuxPowertek 12K is the best inverter out of all the other inverters you have! The LuxPowertek can support unbalanced up to 10+Kw on one leg, its not limited to 6k per leg but up to all 12k on a single leg, my testing is got up to 10+kw continuous on one leg. Again thats the best inverter you got.

You are right! When I built this shop I only had the Orient power inverter and battery. When Big Battery asked me to make videos on the Lux and Ethos I made the changes to accommodate the new inverter and battery. I also just upgraded the house system to the EG4 18k. Because I already had an inverter in the house with critical loads panel I also do not have the CT connected on that unit either. I do however have a breaker and grid connection so that I am able to use the grid if I need it.

The 18k is the best! One of my favorite things is that the unit runs silent unless it has 5000w or more. nice to know that it can run so much on a single leg. So far my loads are under 3000w most of the time.

@@DIYVoltscopy that yeah the newer modern inverters hybrid or power limiter or zero export inverters are truly amazing LuxPowertek has some of the best inverters on the market EG4 rebrand for US market has done very well with LuxPowertek inverters some of the other rebrand inverters they used back in the day was no good, happy they discovered LuxPowertek products, but yeah for people thats just looking for peak shaving and battery backup can now have very simple installation, for peak shaving setup all thats needed is some PV’s and backfeed the main panel with the CT’s on and zero export enable, no need to have any net metering agreement as the inverter is technically in off-grid mode with zero export enable and the CT’s are connected, anyways no need for critical load panels anymore with today’s awesome hybrid zero export inverters.

How are your grounds connected through your transfer switch. Your not supposed to have Grounds in several locations(breaker locations/inverter) since that can be dangerous and its a code violation... Just curious. stay safe...

The transfer switch ground is pulled from the breaker panel. The transfer switch has the included ground wire to make this connection easy.

You showed grid connected systems, not off grid. Also, with all that solar/battery setups (5) why do you need to connect to the grid at all!

The shop system does have a transfer switch so that I could use the grid if I needed too. In the winter I swap over one breaker for a heater. The last setup (5) is off grid. It has a critical loads panel that is not connected to the grid. I have a breaker that can be turned on if the battery drops low. I had to do that a couple times this last winter when the weather was cloudy for 4+ days.
