Take a virtual tour of the Moon in all-new 4K resolution, thanks to data provided by NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft. As the visualization moves around the near side, far side, north and south poles, we highlight interesting features, sites, and information gathered on the lunar terrain.
Music Provided By Killer Tracks: "Never Looking Back" - Frederick Wiedmann. "Flying over Turmoil" - Benjamin Krause & Scott Goodman.
This video is public domain and along with other supporting visualizations can be downloaded from the Scientific Visualization Studio at: svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/4619

Human created to look up to stars that it mean at greek human= ανθρωπος= ανω mean up+θρωσκω mean look, see, target. I still want to travel to the stars. Our souls coming from the stars and there have to travel when this life end. Is our before born memories of our souls talking to us. Thats why we like to travel and search for the tree knowledge.🙂

Hi Cristina, with the exception of a few tentative steps, it seems humanity can not get out of its pram. I grew up following the space program from Alan Shepards Mercury downrange, and continue to follow it, through Apollo 11, where the human race did take one of those steps, all the way to the present. There was a movie some years back based upon Dr. Carl Sagan's wonderful book '"Contact". In it, an astrophysicist (Elly) meets an alien species that uses her deceased father as a visual go - between. Words written by Dr. Sagan and said in the movie by the alien presence say words that have stayed with me since I read the book and then saw the movie: “You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.” ― Carl Sagan, Contact Peace Christina, we MUST continue to reach for the stars, and find, as Abraham Lincoln once said "The better angels of our nature". One day perhaps, long after I am gone, the human race will leave its pram and begin to grow up.

Well said Christina, and I'm sorry for your loss, I too lost my dad at an early age, we had great hopes for humanity and nature back then, I still hold hope in humanity yet today, but it's weaker now than before though, bless you and our remaining hope.!!!

If there is space and there is a vacume... astronauts space suits should withstand the force of this so called vacume?? Yes? No? If yes... NASA! SHOW ME A VIDEO OF AN ASTRONAUT IN A VACUME CHAMBER ALONG WITH A BOWL OF CRACKED OPEN EGGS IN A BOWL and let us see a live video feed of him standing upright and smiling for at least a half hour. Then i will believe in space and a globe earth. ...till then i remain a flat earther and believe in god. Has anyone ever seen a vacume chamber experiment with eggs?? If not I suggest you do before slating my comment. Astronaut suit, eggs, working vacume chamber and show us that the astronaut wont start bubbling and die. Prove this to me and the rest of the population and let us see if its real or is it lies you tell!!

there are pictures of "the far side" (on the nights we don't see the moon surface lit up in the sky the sunlight IS shining on the far side, so the FAR side IS indeed getting light on it, but we can never see it from earth but Nasa sent satellites around there so they could take a LOT of pictures of it when it IS lit up during our "new moon" phase). Look it up, especially on NASA website - a lot of people forget there IS more to internet than social media or entertainment sites. I could spend weeks researching the Nasa website & still not scratch the surface of all the information they present haha

There's nothing wrong with healthy skepticism. Many interesting questions have been asked about the details of the moon landings (flag waving in the absence of atmosphere, clarity of Armstrong's boot print, etc.): and some of the answers given (flag wiggled by crew on purpose to simulate waving, uneroded crystalline structure of lunar dust) might not seem intuitive...so I get why you might still have questions. But as long as your skepticism is grounded in REALITY (unlike those who refuse to believe in the existence of SATELLITES, despite the fact that the internet they use to promulgate such nonsense is DELIVERED to them by virtue of these marvels) then we can no doubt find common ground. For example, if you accept that Earth's moon is, on average, about 384,402 km away (rather than some 'inside the dome' balderdash), then you know that such a distance converts easily to 1.2611 billion feet. The lander, according to NASA, has a diameter of 31 feet, diagonally across the extended legs. So to put this in perspective, trying to see an object that wide from earth is the same as you, sitting on the ground with your telescope, looking up into the sky at the bottom of a helicopter hovering 10,000 feet above you and trying to spot an object on its hull just under 3 THOUSANDTHS of an inch wide - roughly the width of a somewhat fine human hair (red, perhaps - coarse hair can be double that thickness). The difference, of course, being that the snippet thus affixed must only be as long as it is wide: no cheating trying to find the telltale line of a full strand. This being the case, you can see why it might be difficult, even under ideal lighting conditions, angles, etc., to find the remaining portion of the lander. The rover would be even smaller, and not exactly constructed of pink neon materials, at that, making it even more difficult to pick out.

Jorge Rdgz Aliens aren’t everywhere. And while it does seem likely for them to exist, we’ve found no evidence of any alien life. Though we search day and night for possible life on another planet, nothing pops up. This could just be cause we are alone in the universe, or they’ve previously died because of ‘great filters’. If you’d like, I can link you to some very nicely animated and interesting videos just about that. (:

Why does earth have to be the same as every other planet, its obviously unique so who's to say its the only planet that isnt round, the flat earth model wouldnt have the planets the same as what we've been taught either I dont think so there's that

It's highly variable, depending on solar activity. Astronauts that went to the moon during the Apollo missions took doses varying between 0.18 millisievert to 1.14 millisievert for missions of 8-12 days total. Contrary to what Daryl said, if we are to build a moon base, it would be relatively easy to strongly mitigate radiation exposure : shoveling a layer of regolith on top of the hab would block it quite effectively. You would then limit EVAs to days with nice "space weather". (Also, Apollo missions landed in places that were in constant daylight for the full duration of ground activities. For a long enough stay on a permanent moonbase, the Moon itself would block all solar radiation half of the time, during the lunar night.)
