I’ve walked past this house many times when I was younger. The neighborhood has many great examples of MCM homes. So great to finally see what it looks like inside.

Absolutely magnificent! Love the interior decorating to combine modern with MC. Definitely an improvement to MC without being overtly modern. Definitely an improvement to MC. Let them look

I'd plant some fast growing trees along the back of the lot. Then they'd have beautiful trees to look at instead of the houses, and have privacy and a wind break all in one.

These people must have just purchased this home because it was for sale not too long ago. Asking price was just around $1M- which is incredible for anyone who has had the unfortunate experience of look at homes for sale in the Toronto area.

Lovely. Astonishing amounts of natural light available to enrich life during any season. Sunken bedroom reinforces what can be desirable and cozy about sub-level spaces.

Would this home cost more to heat than a brick home? My friend has a greenhouse room attached to his house...said the greenhouse glass leaks heat like crazy.

Issues with heating were one of the faults with MCM design homes. They fell out of style because of the rising cost of heating them, same thing happened to cars and their big engines during that time because of rising gas prices. I can only imagine the cost of replacing just one of those windows especially if you want doublepane, heated glass, etc. Which if I was spending $1 mil on a house today I would def want.

There's a video about a house in the Italian Alpes where they used exactly that effect. The whole side to the South is made out of glas. They nearly don't have to heat in winter as long as the sun shines.

I've been told during our renovation that modern triple glazing can insulate better than even brick. Pretty sure this wasn't the case in 50's & 60's though so it depends if the glazing has been updated.

They may have gotten Modernica which would be the better get. As Modernica is made in the same California factory, with the same equipment, the same sturdy fiberglass, with some of the same employees from the Eames day. Herman Miller is making cheaper plastic shells for a much higher markup. Both companies have nice customization options, not that it matters as the couple in the video chose white on an Eiffel base.

All I can say is enjoy that flat roof, we hated ours, you have to clean it every week or it will get two inches of junk on it, if flat is so good let’s make flat umbrellas!

🤔 Nice but not my style. I like colonial victorian-style wraparound porch type houses. I'm not in favor of the flat roof top either. Wouldn't that cause for trouble during down pours of rain and snow ❓ Where & how would it drain off if it's flat❓ Rain I can see for sure but the snow 🤔. Just asking. I'm no expert so I ask questions. Nice house. Very pretty. 👍🏾

I guess it still has some downhill gradient, but stuff that wont come off that easily, like leaves, would have to be removed by hand (at least I knew a flat top house, whos owners did that once a year)

The interior design fell short of the level of the house. When your design sense matures in a few years, look back and you will see the changes that need to be made.

The light colored furniture choices didn't help, there were midcentury modern elements but a lot of the furniture was just kind of fancy or generically vintage like the dining table or the huge sofas or that bed. The kitchen for example was more of a stark 80s modern and less MCM with it's sleek white minimalist fittings. Look up midcentury modern kitchen and the one defining element is a lot of wood and bold uses of color.

The home has been mid-century "modernised". People who talk about mid-centure modern don't know the difference between the real thing and the cliches of the designer led updating trends. However, I like that they did not tear down the walls have the kitchen on view from the front door.

There is nothing "unique" at this house. And someone says is kinda around $1M .. i really do not see where those money reflect in the house. this house cost not more than $30k to make starting from zero. Obvoius the people that talking in this video didn't saw to manny houses other than the ones models made in the area they are living. My question is .. What is so "unique" about this house yout talking in this video?
