TOURING HELSINKI'S BEST CRAFT BREWERIES | Helsinki, Finland

On my third visit to Helsinki in 2017, I decided to take a full day to explore some of the best craft breweries in the city. Here I take you to the top four breweries in Helsinki, Finland!

I started off the day enjoying some traditional Finnish breakfast at the Klaus K Hotel. From there I walked over to Ohrana Brewery where Jani the brewmaster gave me a tour of the brewery and showed me how they mix a Indian Porter and an IPA.
Next up we walk towards the White Cathedral to Bryggeri Brewery where I tried some delicious beers with head brewmaster Mathias. He is german so the beers are more german styles.
I then took a taxi to Stadin Panimo where I tried a few different IPA's and an Amber Ale. Lastly I walked over to Vallilan Panimo where Markus the head brewmaster gave me a taste test of a handful of yummy beers.

In England where I come from (Norwich) we used to have half bitter and half mild or stout mixed which we called a pint of 2s or half Guinness and half brown ale which is called a black and tan.

I'm talking 30 years ago, and a snake bite is half cider and half lager, that was mainly for the girls. It's interesting to see the Fins drinking British style ales.

I wanna go on this Finnish Brewery Tour ! looked like a lot of fun ! I never see any beers from Finland at my local liquor store so I'm very curious how they taste like :)

@@mikkomohonen6150 Well, I know for a fact, that Finnish lager tastes pretty much exactly the same as Vietnamese, Japanese, Laotian, Cambodian, Czech, Swedish, Danish etc. lager. And yes, I've had my fair share of beers (Basically every Finnish store lager from Koff to Sandels and Sofiero, Norrlands Guld, Tuborg, Carlsberg, Gambrinus, 333, Saigon Green and Red, Beer Lao, Angkor beer, Asahi...) So at least the mass produced lagers are just your average lagers. And as with all craft beer, they're gonna have their own flavor profiles, but I highly doubt, that you could "taste the country of origin" in them. 🤔

@@mikkomohonen6150 We might use more barley in our beer here in Finland, yet I couldn't tell Finnish beer apart from most South Eastern Asia lagers in a blind taste test. Or from Swedish lagers...
