This video is filmed in 4K and is the final part of a series touring the beautiful Outer Hebrides, Scotland in our little white motorhome.
PART 6 - In this final video of the series we move on from Harris to Lewis, where we stay at Ardroil Campsite and explore from there. We visit the huge sands of Uig Bay, the Callanish Standing Stones, the Uig Chessman, the Gearrannan Blackhouse Village, Gary Beach, the Mangersta Sea Stacks, Cliff Beach, Eoropie Beach and the Butt of Lewis Lighthouse. Then sadly the time has come for us to catch the ferry and say goodbye to these amazing Hebridean Islands - however long you have on these islands it will never be long enough! We had around 5 weeks and we still didn't manage to fit everything in that we wanted to see and do. So, of course... we will just have to come back!
I sincerely hope you have enjoyed the series and if so, please could you help us by clicking the like and subscribe buttons, it's completely free to do so and will really help our brand new channel grow. In the meantime we are off on our travels to bring you more adventures which will be coming soon.
Thank you so much for watching.
Barbara and John
PART 1 - we start our journey from Oban, taking the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry to Castlebay, Barra. Our first campsite is Borve Camping and Caravan site and it's from here we start to explore the Isles of Barra and Vatersay.
PART 2 - we move on to Scurrival Campsite, where we discover more beautiful beaches, the ancient Cille Bharra Church and of course the famous Barra Airport where we film the aircraft taking off and landing on the beach - a magical experience.
PART 3 - We take a ferry to the Isles of Uist, where we stay at two different campsites, Moorcroft Holidays and Balranald Campsite, plus a fantastic park-up next to an incredible beach on Berneray.
PART 4 - In this video we travel by ferry from Berneray to Leverburgh on the Isle of Harris, where we spend two nights at Pairc Niseaboist Campsite and explore the local area.
PART 5 - In this Episode we leave Pairc Niseaboist Campsite and treat ourselves to a week's stay in an apartment with stunning views overlooking Luskentyre beach - you seriously do not want to miss this... what an amazing place! We continue to explore the Isle of Harris and make our way to the Hushinish region travelling along a twisty and very picturesque 14 mile single track road. The journey is worth the effort, it was a beautiful drive and we were treated to some spectacular rainbows!
So if you enjoy this first video and the above is of interest to you, then please make sure you subscribe, like and hit the bell, so you don't miss our future episodes.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. How wonderful to be able to spend 3 months there - we definitely need to spend a lot longer next time we visit. There is so much to see and we barely touched the surface, especially with the Uists! It was a real shock to the system coming back to the South East, as you rightly say it seems like another world.

Dear Travelers for life - dear John&Barbara - what a double trouvaille for us - primarily a wonderful reminiscence of our Hebrides vacation with a hiking group on the Outer Hebrides in 2008 - last but not least wonderfully decelerating moving pictures together with very suitable relaxing music within 6 parts - a beautiful addition to the "Hebrides Odyssey" by "Cristine M and a codger in a hat" - my wife and I simply have to be born again to emulate you - keep it up - Meinhard & Sigrid from Old-Germany - please excuse our bad English

hello I have recently watched your videos back to back they are wonderful. I have seen many travel videos for the outer Hebrides to see how what it is like, your trips are the best I have seen, the photography and drone views are wonderful... took my breath away, I am desperate to do the same trip. The simplicity of your videos are perfect, no talking at all just bkg music and helpful text locations that's all you need. What time of year did you go please and how long did you take to do the whole trip? Thank you.

WOW. I came across your channel by accident ... so glad I did .... absolutely amazing photos, videos and editing. I've just watched all 6 videos back to back and can't wait for more. We have done the NC 500 and toured many parts of Scotland in our motorhome but these Islands are on another level and you have inspired me to start planning. Could I ask did you book all the ferries and campsites in advance ? You've just gained another subscriber. 😊😊 Cheers.
@touringforlife9806
@touringforlife9806 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes we booked both the ferries and campsites in advance. There are limited campsites on some islands and as you can see from the videos some sites are quite small with limited pitches. Its so nice to see that our videos inspire other people to go and explore the beautiful Outer Hebrides...you will not be disappointed! Would we do anything differently?....maybe plan to do a bit more wild camping along the way.

Just come across your 6 part Outer Hebrides trip. Absolutely brilliant, from start to finish. This is exactly how it should be done. Was due to visit the Hebrides 2 year back but unfortunately didn't quite go to plan. You showcased it perfectly my friend, to the point we are adement to start making plans. I believe early September is the best time of year? Are the campsites a reasonable price? To get from Castleford upto isle of Harris is 3 ferries? Thanks for the vlogs.

So glad you enjoyed the series and thank you for your lovely comments. We went early September and it worked well for us and we were so lucky with the weather. In 2022 when we went, the campsites were reasonably priced. As for ferries: 1. Oban (mainland) to Barra 2. Barra to Uist 3. Berneray (North Uist) to Harris 4. Lewis to Ullapool (mainland)

Thank you for your comment. We had no problem driving our 6m motorhome on the single track roads. You soon get used to it, less cars about and plenty of good passing points. You need a bit more concentration on some of the more rural roads though! Hope you make it to the Outer Hebrides someday.

We have both used EOS 5D MK IV's in the past - it's a great camera. We now use Gopro for the road shots, Canon R5 and R6 for wildlife, special dramatic shots and differential focus. We use our iPhones for the rest of the videos with either a Hohem M6 gimbal or a tripod - Its amazing the quality of phones these days!

Hi again John, I try to watch everything in 4k as I use a 5k iMac plus on a ridiculously oversize 75" QLED HDR10+ TV and immediately spot the amateurs with their GoPros even though they turn out pretty good. I came across this channel and was blown away (a nature channel in Azerbaijan) and I wondered what equipment they were using...Any guesses...? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f6xkYJSkuq7Xkp8.html

I am no expert on making videos or what equipment to use, but in my opinion, it's more about the story telling, composition and variation of shots that make a good video.
