You shouldn't be surprised to be told "Make way", if you're IN the way of a soldier (Gatesman) making his rounds, to give other soldiers (Boxmen/women) information/instructions/messages or just checking on them or the horses.

It is easy solved: Do not allowed tourists in this area. Learn from Denmark and Sweden. They don't shout to children and scare them ti death. BE CIVILIZED.

I don't understand. Why are tourists allowed in this area and why do you have to be rude to visitors? It is ridiculous, if tourists disturb the guards, do not allow them there.

(a) It's a public right of way through the yard. (b) These are soldiers on duty and shouting "Make way!" is not being rude. The tourists should realise they are in a working area and behave accordingly.

@@jilldavies7094 The public don't have any 'right of way' through Horse Guards. It is opened for public use but access could and can be stopped.

While guards are "on duty", stop access to tourists. Have you forgotten that may be some visitirs do not understand English? There is no need of this sad incidents, shouting and scaring people

If they come to England, where the spoken word is English, and they don’t understand the language, that is their problem. Yet you want the system which has worked for hundreds of years to be changed so that FOREIGN visitors are not upset when a working soldier shouts at them! Oh I love yourself sense of humour - well done!! 😂. And thank YOU Buska - short, sweet, and to the point yet again (and I loved your chuckle at the end 😊).

I don't know why people find this funny or blame the tourists. They are standing on the public highway outside the gates and then some squaddie walks up and shouts at them. Great memory for them to take back home. Personally, I think it's ridiculous to have soldiers put on display for tourists anyway. The gatehouses could be directly on Horse guards property with a barrier in front.
