I'm so happy and proud of my performancethis weekend at the DGPT - TruBank Des Moines Challenge Presented by DGA. We battled wind but dodged the bigger storms. The staff and volunteers put on an absolute gem of an event. Huge thanks to everyone who made my tour return feel so special!

My favorite disc golfer by far! Thanks for showing us old guys the way.

Scott, you are absolutely an inspiration. I’m a year shy of 50 myself and sadly only discovered disc golf a few years ago. I could only throw a couple hundred feet with a driver until recently…. and this summer I’m consistently hitting 380 to 400 feet…. and I don’t think I’ve peaked yet! You’ve shown it’s possible!

Scott, You are not "old". I am 15 years older and 2 weeks into a total shoulder replacement and I am in the back yard practicing my putt. We all have targets and goals that we desperately want to attain so we can "not let the old man in" and feel accomplished. Congrats on reaching one of your goals! You can be proud!

Love this perspective. I am in a league that includes guys in their 70's, 60's, 50's, and younger. It is harder for us at the top to compete with the young guns, but we do have something to offer one another, i.e. companionship, friendship, encouragement, and helping one another become better people on and off the course. You are right though, it is a fantastic feeling of accomplishment when you look at the box score and see how you faired against those that can throw farther than you. I am still in the hunt for improving my game, my character, my faith, and my enjoyment of life. Disc Golf is a part of that journey; it is not the entirety of the journey; just a special part of it.

Scott, congratulations :) that is so awesome. I am 61 and have only played 2 doubles tournaments so far, the 3rd will be on July 20th and it so much fun to compete against all the younger guys out there. I want to renew my PDGA membership again next year and be an MPO player and play for cash instead of trophies and prizes. And I want to encourage people our age to get up off the couch and go out and play until ya can't walk anymore Lol's

from my own experience.... my best playing season was when i was 58 (been playing 36 yrs at the time). i set personal best records at every regional course i played every year. the drop off for me started at 63. i started having more "stupid" bogeys that i couldn't recover from. now at 65 i have learned to let my mental game take over and make course management rule my shot choices. slowly working my way back to more average scores from my past. i now enjoy every good shot and putt i make and i'll keep going as long as i can shoot 18 with less strokes than my age.

I’m 45 now. I refuse to play age restricted just yet. I think I can still compete with these younger guys. What you are doing is such an inspiration, I mean that Scott. I have been cheering you on, constantly checking scores while I’m at work. I’m going to order some of your discs tonight to support you on this journey. Keep on living the dream for us all brother!

Thank you Scott. I do enjoy watching you play. I play against younger people all the time and it’s not easy. I love seeing your drive and passion. Never stop spinning the disc my friend. Once in a while I beat my son lol.

Yes, you are very accurate from my perspective, showing the kids what we can do. I'm one of the millions who proudly hold you up as our "senior" representative, who still want to compete and do battle. The names of players you finished ahead of is amazin. Stay healthy and keep pushing those kids!!

Thanks Scott! I can relate but only on an amateur level. I'm 62 and have been playing for about 3 years and still believe I can improve and even find more distance because I'm relatively new at the game. I love playing with my sons (mid 20's) and even though they out throw me I can still beat them fairly often. Fun stuff!

Thanks Scott for the inspiration, I'm gonna be 62 this year and love golfing with the younger golfers, I just can't seem to convince them that I should get a stroke for every decade I've been alive! Only seems fair right!

I'm 45, and I dont win a lot, but I take some pride when I out drive the 20 somethings I play with, or park that upshot that they overshoot or cant hit the gap on.

This exactly how I feel about soccer. I play in a rec men's league and at 51, I am always like "is this my last season? If I get hurt, will I ever play again?"

I feel you man. I had to hang up my goalie gloves when I hit 51. My body could no longer handle the the acrobatics; my reflexes just kept injuring me to get my body into the path of the ball. After my third broken rib of the season I donated my gloves to our junior team. Still playing midfield, but it's not the same. Protecting the net is a drug😊.

@jackofnone32 Wow! I didn't play from 28-39. At 44 I started playing keeper when I was needed. Basically learned to play on KZfaq. I'm not good, but I am a midfielder.

Never had a chance to compete in my "prime". PDGA events in BC were only in certain cities for the LONGEST time. Now they are everywhere in Canada. I'm only a copuple years behind you and getting back into the sport. Any tips on throwing neck/shoulderissues?

Wow I'm rlly pleased with your performance!! Just a reminder for everyone, I have a neighbor, around 50-60, who untill a month or so ago was very healthy, active man, he had a good job, and life seemed good. He seemed to disappear, and somehow we found out that he was in a hospital 1000 miles away, and that he had a massive amount of cancer all over his body. The doctors tried chemotherapy, but he wasn't strong enough to handle it, so just a couple days ago, they put him on hospice. Anyway, that said, it's a good reminder for all of us that not another breath is guaranteed anyone. I'll also ask prayer for him, because he's not a Christian, so he needs to see the severity of his sin and to ask Jesus into his life.
