34 minutes of sparring between Angel Chernaev (‪@AngelChernaevHistoricalFencing‬) and me in our own South Park. Some warm-up and 7 and 15-minute spars, to emulate the maximum time of our upcoming tourney. All exchanges are included, even the ones where we look lame.
We self-judged and kept score after the warm-up. Figure out the final results on your own - all blows are one point, blow-afterblow and doubles are zero.
The footage is 60 fps and can be slowed down to half speed for careful analysis.

PS: Tourney prep worked well, I got gold, Angel got bronze :)

Nice exchanges! It feels to me that your fencing “flows more” - Did you focused on this lately or is just my perception which sees random things?

Thanks! I honestly can't say, mate. The last year I've been juggling my very busy day job and HEMA in a crazy way (these spars are an example of that, we do them before work when I can afford to go to the office late), and my focus has been on mostly getting other people better and going to events. I haven't really been seriously focused on my own fencing for a while and I've just been grinding, spending probably 90% of my fencing time sparring. It's probably just polish, polish, polish and not a concentrated and focused effort.

@@borislavkrustev8906 interesting!!! Well I am a huge supporter of sparring being the best exercise among all for experienced fencers.

@FedericoMalagutti I think we went from very "flowy" to more static guards and clear attacks and are now seeking more of a middle ground. But it's not really too intentional, just more of a natural swing between them.

@@FedericoMalagutti Keep in mind we do a ton of different sparring variations - games with limitations, various intensities, various goals and levels of focus (footwork, bladework, thrusting, cutting, weird sporty things, etc). So it's actually quite varied.

We are organizing and competing this weekend in Teutonic Fecht Honigberg in Brasov, Romania. The tourney will be in a greatly preserved 13th C fortified church.

@@frenchgalloglass5204 It's magical, definitely going to post some video from there. The walls are in great condition, there are some paintings of knights, even a Jesus with a sword...

@@borislavkrustev8906 epic! We've done some sparring outside Cahir Castle lately, made a few videos there, it's one of the biggest castles in the country. But I'm not sure if we could organise a tournament inside... It's worth looking into. Looking forward to see the footage of the tournament in the fortified church. Best of luck

@@frenchgalloglass5204 Ah, to be precise, we will be fighting at the base of the walls, not inside the church itself :) It's still an active place of worship.
