I started out towing gliders, and doing low level pipeline patrol in small airplanes. I’m now flying corporate jets in the flight levels, and honestly can’t wait to get back into this type of real flying. Glad you made the move from the airlines to this. It really brings back the passion for flying.

Yes, I can't stop flying and this has a very special charm. In a way it's more fun than an A350 even if that plane is fascinating and impressive. Now I have time for this. It is the sportiest flying since I flew fighters in the airforce! 🤗👌🏼

Brings back memories. I towed gliders later in my aviation career. No FMS, no radio….just flying. Lots of fun.

Also did soaring, my personal record is 10 mins short of 5 hrs. I remember working very hard to get those last 10 minutes…but ….next time. LOL

I did a weeklong gliding course at RAF Sealand near Chester, England way back in 1969. I still remember the great sense of freedom and exhilaration.

I started flying in gliders. Not been in one for ages but going up to Yorkshire for my first air tow 😉 More fun than the 787 😜 Cool video. Lovely day 😘

In the USA the glider on release turns right and the tow plane turns left.

Många minnen som väcks. Vilken underbar sport det är. Känner igen varenda spakrörelse och manöver så väl. Tog C-cert sent 80-tal men slutade flyga pga studier på 90-talet och sedan kom jobb, familj, barn etc, etc. Har dock gjort ett litet antal provstarter genom åren, senast i Borås, i framsits i en ASK-25 sommaren -20, men aldrig hittat tiden att sätta igång och flyga aktivt igen. Måste ta tag i det på allvar, känner jag… :)

Håller med. Det var med segelflyg min karriär började och jag skall återta mitt certifikat. Nu har jag tid till det eftersom jag slutat flyga yrkesmässigt. Tycker verkligen du skall ta tag i det. Passa på medans du kan! 👍🏼🤗

You need some flying experience and also to oerform a few glider flights during the tow training.

Why does the glider land on the grass and not the runway?

It's a bit gentler to the plane, for example less wear on the tailskid, wingtips etc.

Can you tow glider with a ppl and earn ?

You can tow a glider with PPL plus additional training for towing. At the club we tow with UL-planes and it’s no pay. However it’s very very fun flying!
