We haven't been able to tow the race trailer with the new truck yet because of the goosneck hitch. So we fix that, fix our wiring, add a brake controller, and go for a test tow to see how she'll handle the weight!

Bags on the back will bring the back end up to a better towing level. Should smooth out the ride and improve transfer of momentum to the trailer. Mostly a convenience thing though.

Yeah the truck is designed for towing but when they're slammed on the ground sometimes they need a little helper bag
@brandoncaldwell95
@brandoncaldwell95 5 жыл бұрын
@@markyfrencho The truck sits level when loaded. The trailer doesnt, which that is fine. The trailer is getting 4000lbs of cargo and thatll squat the suspension on it a little. Ya, i know 20% weight it transfered to the truck, but it wont squat it any more then it already is. Bags would be completely useless. This is why my truck still has the factory rack which will handle 35s without a lift. If i leveled it, i would install bags to keep it leveled. Pointless to level since i do tow.

Sometimes with stuff like that tow ball you can use a grinder to make some flats on the side so you can get a decent grip on it with a wrench. Obviously only applies if you don't mind destroying it.

I really like this truck. Unlike the dodge, I'm happy to buy parts for it to make it better. So I'm hoping she does me well. I've never really loved the way a truck I've had looked until this one, and it makes me so happy to see it. Plus the seats are comfy and it has a nice system and cold ac. As long as I can cruise at 70-75 without loosing more than 5-10 up big hills I'll be happy. lol

Colby Leger I'm trying not to sound like a broken record as I'm sure you have seen comments like this before but I personally don't like it when someone comments like this " a 7.3 can never be fast or perform like the new diesels.... they're just boat anchors". This is not true a 7.3 can be fast and "perform" like a new diesel and still be way more reliable than a factory new diesel.

Taylor, looks like you got the Tekonsha P3 brake controller. Go through its' setting and set the controller up for the size of the trailer so it can correctly and effectively help you stop. I used the same brake controller on my 45ft double deck Kaufman 5 car in my 5500 without issue for years. I had it set so the triaxle trailer would show on the little display, and it set correctly for my type of brakes, EOH. But your just electric, just wanna make sure you set it up correctly to help it help you the best it can.

It will shift a lot higher in the rpm range with a tuner called the ts6 by ts performance and that tuner has a 6 position switch so you have a retuned trans and 6 choices as far as power and they have a high idle setting for cold weather starting but I dont think you will ever need that but my 7.3 feels a lot better with that tuner it only costs like 2 or 300 bucks too. You order the tuner custom with the six choices of your choosing from an 8 or 10 choice list I forget what all of them are but you'll have to check it out for yourself
