We start upgrading our new 7.3 dually with tow mirrors, and LEDS then we decide to boost leak test it because we know it's not making full boost, and the leak turns out to be the worst thing to fix.

@taylor ray if you want to put LEDs in behind colored lenses, you need to get the same color LED. Just buy some amber LEDs and put them on the cab lights and they'll be great.

White LEDs work really good with red lenses. It's just amber or yellow lenses that need the same colour LED
@oriongaby

The LEDs he got are probably in the 4-4.5k range, he just needs warmer ones, around 3k. 3.5k is considered neutral(ish) white so anything under that shouldn't change color, only brightness. (This is if they're the same LEDs used inside the cabin)

I have a 7.3l with the zf6 the hydra is one of the coolest tuners on the market has 17 tune settings. I have a ts6 position which works great as well. The up pipes tend to leak and cause high egt’s especially while towing. Make sure you replace them with the bellowed style. Swamps diesel performance is where I bought most of my stuff. Best of luck great seeing some 7.3l content. I never got around to it but maybe see about the gt38r turbo these Garrett’s leave a lot to be desired as far as spool goes.

Two things, one, I made fun of myself in that video, and in the title of it for this very reason. I know it was dumb, but I like it, so whatever, I accept that. Two, if anyone that complains about the "not buying a used diesel" video actually watched it, they would realize that the point of it wasn't that you should NEVER do it, but if you don't tow, or rarely tow, or only tow a small trailer, you might be better off just buying a 1/2 ton gas truck. Same fuel economy, better ride, cheaper op cost, cheaper maintenance, much cheaper purchase price. But, if you're towing a big enclosed, diesel is your only logical option. All of which is explained in the video that nobody payed attention to. lol

Dude. You're a funny guy ! Keep it up. One thing, you might want to go into a little more detail (and speak a little slower for we old farts) on the technical stuff. Your reference to Fords being easy to work on is spot on. We DO get it ! I'm on my second 7.3 (I'd still have my first, but I wrapped her around a tree) and actually enjoy working on her. Pulled the water pump off today. For room (optional) I pulled the radiator out too. Hoses, 5 machine screws, fan shroud, 2 bolts, 3 for the degasser tank and boom ! All the room in the world. Even the fan came off with minor coaxing (and the fan clutch wrench kit from Auto Zone, free but deposit). My last one had a tuner and exhaust from Gale Banks and a cold air intake, I forget the brand. She towed like a mutha ! I think you'll be really pleased once you get her dialed in. Have you named her yet ?
@kylesonsalla7620

For future reference for anyone interested, O'Reilly's stocks turbo install kits for these for like $20. Same contents as the Ford kit. Use Riffraff billet plenums and never worry about it again. They don't lift, they don't bend, they look much better, and you won't crush the inlet with a T bolt clamp when you upgrade couplers.

Man. That is one nicely done 7.3L. I like that newer front end and how it's all clean. Definitely thinking of looking at a dually to do a similar build. Very clean truck, man. Looks good.

Thanks man! I’m in love with this look. Ive has a bunch of 4x4 trucks on off-road tires and they looked fine. But I was never super into them. This truck however is me. It’s definitely what I like.

Why don’t you just pull the front of the truck into the garage? Wouldn’t that be more convenient?

not enough room with the miata inside, and I knew this would be a 2-day project and I wanted to be able to shut the shop without pushing a 7000lb truck out of it. lol I thought about it.

@@Taylordrifts is the shop no deep enough to pull the whole truck in? Lock the Miata in the trailer and wrench in the dry and shade. Just my pennies.

Good to see someone did an ebpv delete on the turbo ped. Mine is deleted and its much better. Less chance of oil leaks

Honestly - for diesels only trust Gale Banks @ banks power. He re-tuned all the army's humvees and designed the engine in the new jrtv and is just a legend. lots of guys makes stupid power with diesels but his brand won't sell a product that will risk your truck.

There are only a couple headlight bulbs that are dual filament. 9003 (H4), 9004, 9007, and H13. Likely if it was originally a 9007, a 9004 is most like a 9007.

Thanks man! I’ve been having fun with the projects lately! I looked into stuff when I was a kid and then just kinda dove into it head first when my first turbo car broke a major part. And then just learning from friends and doing it. It’s all nuts and bolts at the end of the day.
