Why isn't Luther Vandross in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Not that he needs that honor to validate his talent, but with his contributions to music and his status as an R&B icon (I place him among the Motown and Stax greats) he more than deserves it. Plus, calling it as it is, he was the last great TRUE R&B singer to come along.
@MadMax-pk8ss Жыл бұрын
Luther is my number ONE all time favorite pure male singer! But I don't think Luther is Rock & Roll if that is what the distinction you mentioned refers to. He was a mostly a crooner / R&B / Soul.
@darrylthomas2664 Жыл бұрын
@@MadMax-pk8ss Regardless tha man could "Sang".....he could have sung the yellow pages backwards & it would have sounded good. Crooner or not.....most singers can't carry a tune in a handbasket !!

@@darrylthomas2664 Yes, I absolutely agree. As I said above, he is my favorite male singer and no-one comes close. I listen to him EVERY single night and have done so for years. You know how children have lullabies or bedtime songs/stories that their internal clock expects when it's time for bed? Luther is that equivalent for me. I feel uncomfortable and strange if I don't go to sleep to his voice.

In 1980 Change released "The Glow of Love", their first record and a real top album. Every track is a gem and Luther Vandross' voice made this piece of vinyl for a real rocket. At every corner in New York you heard in the summer of 1980 the sounds of Change or S.O.. Band. This summer was a really hot one and these sounds were the soundtrack!

Luther added Searching & The Glow of Love on his 1989 compilation album entitled “The Best of Luther Vandross: The Best of Love.” Tracks 1&2 are 1: Searching & 2: The Glow of Love, both by Change. Look for it on Amazon or eBay. You won’t find it on iTunes. Luther took ownership. Rightfully so.

I can't believe it's been damn near 40 years Change hit us with this one Searching, the tail end of Disco good old up tempo Disco. A young Mr.Luther Vandross rip I never forget that voice because it will never be unforgettable and I must say Bro.Favors I'll never forget you as well it was you back in 1980 in Korea U.S army I heard a boom box blasting going and coming to and from overnights Brother Favor East St.Louis Ill. The one and only cassette tape this Bro.had was Change and I do believe it was the best one he only had Bro.Favors I hope you're alive and kicking thanks man nothing but Love you both.

This track never gets old. Interesting that they didn't even include Luther in the LP photo, and he made the song and the group for that matter. He got the last laugh. Great track thou!

Change was a studio project at first, musicians in Italy, the singers in America, Luther a featured singer.

Hit the town in the cold of the night….looking around for the warmth of the light… there was fog on the road so I guess no one saw me arriving… real singing, real band, real good music 🎶 🎵
