Toxic, Fallen, Redeemed: The Return of Stewie2K

Stewie2K became a CS:GO legend when he and the rest of Cloud9 defeated the FaZe Clan superteam at the Boston Major.
But after several years of hopping from roster to roster, Stewie seemingly left pro CS behind for good. Accused of being difficult to play with, with his results lacking, Stewie turned away from the scene that made him a star. With no pro experience in CS2, it seemed like he was finished with competing at the highest level.
That is, until one of the best Counter-Strike teams in the world needed him once more.

people say he had a 0.88 rating and bottom fragged but he literally was an entry fragger/space taker. He might not have top fragged or whatever but he had significant impact on some rounds plus forced ither teams to play uncomfortable positions which allowed G2 to capitalize on him being aggressive and forcing stuff.

There is a concept in military sieges called the 'Forlorn Hope'. It is the first unit into a siege and they end up taking the brunt of any traps that the defenders have laid and almost everyone in the unit ends up dying. Stewie was G2's Forlorn Hope. He wasn't intended to survive. He was intended to make the rest of the round (siege) go smoothly.

@@idontlikestuff I am from the UK but nice try ... As if a fucking American is talking about forlorn hopes pmsl. I never said that he won them the game singlehandedly. I actually said exactly what you said but using an analogy. He fulfilled his role ... which was that of forlorn hope. G2 essentially used Stewie to set up trades and take the game from being a 5 v 5 to being a 4v4. That meant that instead of being 4 teammates and a stand in against 5 teammates they were often 4 teammates against 4 teammates. Just like how a forlorn hope was intended to take away the traps and stuff that the defenders in a siege had set up to give them an advantage.

@Demdem650
@Demdem650 2 күн бұрын
No his role within the team was basically like a sacrificial lamb. He would entry frag, support and create space. All of those things would result in him generally dying more often and having less kills. Reason he was able to come back so well was because he was willing to do whatever was required and not what he wanted. Niko loved stew for that reason as he was the igl. New team member plus new igl for that event, doesn’t seem as bad if egos don’t come into play (obviously didn’t since they won the event)

If only Stew knew what PR is. I know he didn’t say anything particularly harmful in the podcast but the fact that someone was able to build a whole new narrative COHERENTLY based on out of context quotes tells you how little he cares about his words. That alone is more than enough to sway a team’s interest away.

I wholeheartedly agree, but when it comes to CS seeding they are currently a russian team, to become a NA team again requires more work than just buying an NA roster, valve has also recently changed how qualifying for events works which has given even less ways to qualify for NA teams, essentially making it nearly impossible to get to tier 1 as a new team, which c9 would have to do as they would be starting from scratch in NA.
@LayKxD
@LayKxD 2 күн бұрын
@@thedeadlysun13 All valid points and probably the reason this won't happen. I think we just need a domino to reignite the NA team, because it would be easier to qualify if we had more teams. Steel sharpen steel type scenario. But also the American scene is just smaller than global scene. So I get them not wanting to commit unless they pulled off an insane roster.
