@@thecrownoffusion8420 no I don't blame them because they're allowed to feel however they want about it but old or new, viewers are still well aware by the time they watch the video, what it's actually about. If they still want to get caught up on the title after the fact and let that be the focus of their thoughts on it then they can do so. But I still think its unecessary and unfortunate.

She was in other movies before The Shining. She used to be Robert Altman's muse and was in some of his movies like? Nashville, 3 Women, and Popeye. I wouldn't say she was a great actress per se, but I see why Bob always loved to put her in his movies. There was an innocence about her

Shelley was already acting for almost a decade before The Shining! Can’t forget about all her phenomenal work with Altman (who originally discovered her) like 3 Women that she actually won Best Actress for at Cannes.

I liked her acting. This is the first I'm hearing of people not liking her acting. If this is true, I think she's gotten a bad rap.

To state how can you cancel someone who is dead? Its more effective (whether small or big because some suffer more then others) when the person is alive and not dead (especially when they died before I was born)

Ouch, I’ve scratched my corneas multiple times It’s such a terrible pain. Every time you blink it feels like it’s being scratched all over again. The pain is not the worst but the knowing that the eye watering and constant scratching feeling is going to last for days is hell. I even made myself a eyepatch so I didn’t blink to avoid the pain and constant eye watering. Mcdowell’s pain was probably even worse because it happened from metal.

I completely agree! I see people defending his actions in the name of “art” and that he wasn’t that bad, but he 100% had issues he took out on the actors and pushed them way too far imo

I love the movie, but totally understand disliking Kubrick. It’s rude to put actors through so much when they are professionals and are trained to tap into these characters and their emotions. It’s doubting their abilities, it’s messed up!!

Her performance is what sinks the movie for me, it's just annoying. Over the years as I've learned what she went through I feel bad for her but it doesn't change what's on screen.

I've watched, studied, researched his symbolism, allegory, technique and looked into the layers of commentary that his movies make in their own aspects with documentaries, programmes and watched other cinematic critics giving their opinions and praise, and I just don't share the taste for his movies. I have tried to appreciate them. I've rewatached a few of them and I understand why people love them so much but I don't have a problem admitting that I do not. Another thing is when you say that you get people making assumptions like you must be missing something to not like them - like you did there or acting like you just denied gravity or something. He's a film maker. His products are subject to be disliked, that's the beauty of art. Its subjective and subjectively recieved. I still find things to like in his movies and about them.. but that's as far as it goes. So please don't be so assumptive and presuming that just because I'm not a fan there was some kind of intellectual gap in my appreciation that must explain my distaste in his work. That's very arrogant indeed.

@@devonmunn5728 Well, Dorian Harewood had some good stories about Kubrick while filming Full Metal Jacket. So I don't know about Kubrick being a bigot. I think his verbal abuse came from him just being very self-centered and selfish at times.
