I never cared for the original film but they did a great job on this one! I like both Immaculate and the first omen about the same. Hard decision to make.

I'll be honest I watched The Strangers (the original) for the first time last year and was shocked to see how stupid the protagonists were. Like at some point they've been under attack by these intruders for hours and not only do they split up because the dude wants to go to the shed alone, the woman sits down on the OUTSIDE porch with her head in her hands. I truly don't understand how some people consider the original their favourite horror movie. And now you're saying the characters in the remake are even dumber?!? Wild

I really like Mother and Dirty Duck But almost no one I know like those movies.

If I were an author in Hollywood & they asked me to write a RE-bote/-make, Id show a happy McNormal couple for the 1st part meeting up with their friend being all cute & chatty, driving up to a house & then "pull a 180" by them putting on their masks, becoming "The Strangers" to a random family's house. Showing how they'd be prepared for every typical decision their victims would make. Decisions the majority of people would maybe make during a break-in, going from talking abt college grades, life etc. to having sadistic fun while trying to kill innocent ppl cause "they just can".That would make ME feel uneasy as a watcher & a change of perspective is the only cause a remake would make sense (to me).

Honestly the worst part for me is just that like- I get why they slap the franchise name on it but it doesn’t work!! I know a lot of people loved the Suspiria remake, but hardly anything tied well enough to the original to warrant tying it to the franchise. I think on its own it’s a decent horror movie with pacing issues. (I also think this is a downfall of Inferno (1980) because it’s a solid movie but tying it to suspiria ended up making it not as effective for me). It feels like film creators do just want to surface level reference movies for the name recognition and as “easter eggs” but it always feels cheep. Like, wanting to recreate the scenes and setting but not understanding why these things were done in the first place. It also feels like characters’ agency is taken away because they have to go down the same path as the original characters even if it makes no sense

There is one thing that I think they did better in Chapter 1 over the original. Obviously, in this movie, the strangers knew they were staying at the Airbnb, so IMO, that makes a bit more sense than in the original where you had a family cabin out in the middle of nowhere that the strangers just suddenly knew would be occupied on that specific night. However, the rest was pretty stupid. The stupidest part in the entire movie for me was the scene where the lights went out and she hid in the closet with her cell phone flashlight on, and pointed right at the door.

Her acting was like Delaney!!!😭

2008 Strangers is one of my favorite movies. It's shameful what they've done here 🤦‍♀️ at least Prey at Night had its own unique style

So I love almost all the child's play movies (curse of chucky is one of the worst movies I've seen) I also like the remake more than the original. It is not my favorite from the franchise tho, as my favourite is Bride of Chucky. My order of best to worst: Bride Cult Seed Remake Child's play Child's play 3 Child's play 2 Curse

I went into this one blind. I think I had seen a preview maybe once but I never picked up on what the secret was. Like.. I didn’t know what kind of monster she was. Either way I didn’t know what to expect with Abigail and I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve watched it twice. It’s a good film to put on for entertainment purposes a slumber party vibe type occasion movie. But yeah.. all in all, I enjoyed Abigail very much.

I Saw the TV Glow isn't straight-forward horror, but there are definitely chilling scenes of surreal horror! I've seen it three times and loved it more each time. I'm most excited for The Watchers, Longlegs, and Cuckoo! 😍

The carrier remake was actually butchered by the studio. Apparently there was about 40 minutes of footage that was cut and the violence was stronger too but they toned that down as well. The director said they ruined her vision for how the movie was supposed to play out.

I think ur a bit exaggerated with ur hate for this film. It was a bit bland but not necessary horrible. Allegedly the sequels will reveal more & be hopefully better then Chapter 1
