The composer's background with classic and edm, and this game OST project was his first time composing rock. The dnb drum hybrid you mentioned was probably because of that.

Interesting interpretation. I always saw it as a specific artistic direction, because this music is played when you're fighting a guy who is more machine than man, not just physically but also in terms of the humanity left inside. Like the rock track being the human element that is drowned out by the extreme technological takeover. Or that the elements of the rock track that remain are the heart-thumping four count that feels like the bloodlust going crazy, with the techno track complementing that killer instinct.
