It was a subject I was very apprehensive to talk about, I hope at least some of the points I made resonated with a few people who watch this channel.
As always, I would really like to know your thoughts in the comments below and also your subjects of future toy talk topics, enjoy and stay awesome!

I have some PTSD from losing my dad in 2005, and toy collecting had 100% been my escape. It’s fun and a great distraction. Makes me happy, especially when I do toy hunt days(fewer than I used to due to everything is expensive now). I think it’s healthy, but like buying anything, there’s a fine line, as you’ve stated.

@@pauljakeman used to collect a ton of transformers since the 07 movie started and a lot of good transformers toys were coming out, but haven’t bought one in a while. Right now, anything that perks my interest. I love 90s toys, and anything fun and odd. Just wanna have a wall full of odd looking toys that really grab your eyes, like crazy sculpts and bright paint jobs

Yeah I can totally relate. My fiance and I broke up after a 10 year relationship. There I was with an empty house. Empty except for bad memories. I had to either sell the house or make new memories. I dove into collecting toys again. Started customizing and getting back into art because of it. Toys literally saved my life. Good luck everyone. 👍

well done bro talking on such a still to this day a taboo subject, so many people still want to hide or ignore what’s going on in that world, so to talk about it even though you don’t suffer from it is still a big move nothing but respect as always bro

Another class TTT, mate. I can completely see a link between mental health struggles and collecting things. I've seen it a lot in people collecting football shirts and that. Retail therapy is a real thing, and it has it's pros and cons. A big part of bipolar can be spending irrationally on things. I have depression, but without the sick toy collection... I lose out big-time 😂

Not had chance to watch the video yet (I'm sure it will be ace as usual tho) but as one of the people who suggested this topic I thought I'd better pipe up. So for me, I'm someone who has had mental health issues in my past, and I personally find toy collecting, as a hobby, has really helped me because it gives me something that is completely about fun and nostalgia, which is something I can use to help me stay positive at times when I might be struggling. I don't have a huge space to display my collection at the moment but the space I have spent time curating and putting together is also a space where I can spend time just enjoying my collection, looking at cool shit I own, getting inspiration from it, and that's really good for me.

Very honest video and it's great to start a conversation on this. I think it's about finding your passions in life and for some people it's toys. The nostalgic link makes a lot of sense. My opinion is everyone should get back to that "childlike curiosity". Funny my video Thursday I mentioned life's all about growing and learning so just when you think you know something it could all change. No one knows anything! And that leaves so much more room for anything to happen 🙌 Awesome job Theo!

Good topic. I think, as you said, it's about balance and being sensible. Sometimes that can be difficult if you are going through a rough time in other parts of your life. Collecting can be a genuine joy or a coping mechanism (healthy or unhealthy) and one has to be mindful of what is motivating their actions/habits at any given time.

Really enjoyed this video! I have PTSD and agoraphobia, due to spending a couple of years living in Nairobi during the troubles! Collecting vintage figures has been such a brilliant way of coping, it's great if your able to escape back to happier times, such as the 80s, which I miss soooooo much! Epic decade!!!👍👍

Awesome T.T.T dude, reading the comments you can see that toy collecting is helping so many people cope with Mental Health Issues. I agree that the focus helps to balance the mind and helps to relive that imagination from our younger days. Really hard to define any set pattern but the fun side is definitely high up there. Believe in your words though 'Control the collection, don't let it control you'. The moment it starts to feel overwhelming maybe it's time to take a step back.

I have CPTSD because my mother and step father were super abusive and neglectful. I didn’t even see it all until the last two years and all these repressed memories were pouring out of my head, after I secured a union job and felt safe in life. My brain was essentially protecting me until I established some base levels in my hierarchy of needs. Many forms of abuse… Neglect, physical mental verbal abuse, financial abuse, gas lighting, etc ANYWAY, while processing all this in therapy I started collecting toys I never had. I didn’t have many toys and there were so many rad treasures in the 70s and 80s… so it’s been so exciting and like so many rites of passage vibes. Just gotta watch that budget 😜

Not enough collectors talk about this. I'm so glad you've brought it up. I'm not sure if I'm depressed or not. I don't really think about that stuff. I just do my daily grind and look forward to relaxing in my collection room. At times in my life I've definitely felt like I was a slave to my hobby because I was/am a completionist. I get extreme joy at seeing my completed collections. Though at the time I was going thru the motions and not fully enjoying life. I see my collection as my history of ups and downs. Definitely during my downs is when I overextend myself for my hobby, but then I look at what I accomplish when I'm back up and feel pride.
