Thanks for the useful, practical feedback on the Toyo AT3. Occasionally I get to drive a Tacoma TRD Offroad, 3rd gen, on a ~24% incline. On snow, the stock Wranglers are worthless, even with added weight over the rear axel (in comparison, a front wheel drive, run-of-the-mill SUV with A/T tires managed the same climb while the TRD Offroad on stock Wranglers couldn’t in 4x4). The same TRD Offroad was later fitted with stock size P265/70R16 Toyo AT3 and the climb on the same “type” and depth of snow was now non-event. It climbed like a goat. Eventually I found the limits of the Toyo AT3s on the same climb when a few inches below the snow was all ice and traction was eventually lost. Just wanted to write that as you said in the video, the Toyo AT3 are really good tires, many things considered.

Glad you found the video helpful! I was looking for similar content and it didn't exist so I paid it forward and made it myself. The AT III is great for what most will probably throw at it and it's pretty easy to live with day to day so it's a winner for me.

I am going with the same tires but with 0 offset wheels or something close in the +5 Range. I have a pavement princess TRD Sport so she is only going to be roughing it in harsh Canadian Winters.

I'm still really pleased with the Toyos. 5k miles in and they are still easy to live with.

Thanks for the video. I am thinking about getting those same tires. How are they holding up after a year? Did they affect your gas mileage much?

The Toyos are great. Low noise on the street and super capable of road. Gas mileage really didn't change but the speedometer did change slightly with the revised size.

Mine are the SL's. I looked up the E load tires and those start with an LT before the tire sizes. I haven't had any trouble with tire punctures off road but this is my daily driver so I'm only going to push things so far.

When u replace Titan7 rim. Do u have to replace the Oem lug studs? To aftermarket Studs longer More secure. Usually Original stud very short! Replace aftermarket rim on it. Look like so danger. Not tight enough. Cause the oem stud so short.

Yes I had to replace the lugs with aftermarket ones. I didn't have to replace the studs as there were more than 4 full turns on the lugs.

Do you have any rubbing at the trail on bumps or on the street on the bumps or dips?

None after I addressed the splash shields. I'm also on the stock off road suspension.

@@aaronlabeau I chave a 2023 trd off road as well I’m going to add 17x9 0 offset with 265/70/17R tires I just wanted to make sure I won’t rub when I decided to go off roading with all the bumps and rocks and hills

@@danielnavarro9094 just keep in mind YRMV depending on your tire choice. Even in the same brand the sizes can vary.

Do you think the offset made it rub? I am going with 265 70 17 with zero offset.

Possibly as the negative offset while slightly pushing the wheel out more changes the geometry of the wheels lock to lock. I'm sure tires make a difference too as they are all slightly different. This was a minor modification and I'm on the stock Off Road suspension. A lift kit is a cheap fix that will take care of this too until you're ready for a suspension.

@@dwayneh9061 no problem. Based on what I read on trailtacoma.com 265/70/17 'shouldnt' have rubbed at all as I said in the video but of course it did for me. I think it's just part of the game when you modify cars/trucks. It's not like you're putting 35" tires on there so at least you don't have to chop the cab mounts or anything radical like that. I am a little surprised the 2nd gen Tacomas have it a little better than the 3rd gens for wheel well clearance. Knowing a lot of these trucks get modified I think the Toyota engineers could have helped us out a little more with the shaping of the splash shields.
