No speed limits ;-) Lets see how fast Hybrid C-HR can run. Also some cool features test. Here you will see also how long you can drive only on EV mode.

Good Review. Shows details that others don't bother to show... Great Job from someone that's occasionally driving on the Autobahn!

Chyzwar, it was fun looking how you get familiair with your C-HR, I recognized a few things... Let me share some experiënce as well; I've been driving this car now for over 6 months and have not found any real negative quality. I knew when selecting the hybrid, it would have a bit lower top speed compared to what I used to drive (Avensis Touring Sport) but acceleration wise it beats a lot of cars... When selecting this new model, I considered it to be more efficiënt; and yes my average sofar in mixed driving modes is not higher then 5Ltr/100km winter season & 4,5 Ltr/100 km in summer/autumn season, expecting it to reach 4,6-4,7 Ltr/100km yearly average. Which is clearly lesser compared with the Avensis (on 15.200 km 7,7 Ltr/100 km yearly average).(Driving as well highway, as well city & mixed in peak-hour & off-peak-hour). And one more thing: For the hybrid, let go the idea that rev's & sound are strictly lineair with speed, for it is not, or not anymore what we were used to.This difference causes some to say it is loud; what in fact is not if you consider & accept non-linear behaviour & learn how to efficiëntly control the accelerator. Think of a plane or boat: There it goes like: power up (engine(s)) to gain speed, reduce power (on engine(s)) when at desired speed. And you know what; The C-HR can do that for you! And I love it the way the C-HR computer handles it at best efficiency...

Thanks. I have learned a number of things from your test that will be helpful when our C-HR arrives. Basically at the moment I am really only interested in the C-HR, and learning how to use it's many safety features. Theoretically in three years I will take a interest in EV vehicles when they reach 300 mile range as an important factor to fit in with our circumstances. I estimate that by then EV's should have become more affordable. (The vehicle we drive at the moment achieves only 11 l/100 km and is not at all what we expected when we ordered it. We expected a maximum of 7 l /100 km. The dealer fooled us. Now we are particularly careful in choosing it's replacement.) Thanks again, very informative.

I can tell you in the first part of the video way you have engine start, and here are the explication: When you start the car for the first time the internal combustion engine is below nominal temperature and the engine start to warm it up. I have the same behavior in my Prius. if the engine is warm the you can run in EV mode. This implementation is done to reduce wear on thermal engine.

Thanks for explanation. I didn't know about it.
@alexam3001
@alexam3001 6 жыл бұрын
Also you can face other behavior. In some case even if the battery is fully charged and you are below 50km/h and pres EV mode you will get the following message " EV mode not available" This may happen when the temperature of traction battery is close to maximum value. In that case the thermal engine will run until the battery temperature will go down. This can happen when you are in a very hot summer and you are traveling on direct sun radiation and with AC running and you drive in town with reduced speed. The same behavior can be seen on other hybrid for example on Chevrolet Volt. This in normal. On Volt the battery is cooled down with liquid, the same system used on Toyota hybrid to cool down the inverter. On Toyota hybrid the battery all cooled with air, with a small blower. I wish you to use it without incidents.

i'm sorry, but you don't understand how Hybrid sinergie drive system work. Hybrid car isn't electric car, so ev mode is only for parking or run at very low speed. In normal condition, all engine must be works in sinergie, and only when hv battery is full, you can test the car correctly and see its very capacity. When battery is down, the car consumer more than battery level is normal, and hsd system works normally.

Hybrid is semi electric. my CHR runs on the Electric engine below 50 KmH and above that the petrol engine.Hybrid cars are no speed monsters despite the sporty looks. I keep it at 130 KmH max. I had the choice between the CHR or Prius, both 2018

You need a plug-in hybrid to have enough battery and EV motor power to run fully electric. The Prius plug-in hybrid can heat and cool, make pure EV drive incl highway etc. purely on EV mode.

It needs to heat up the engine, that's why it starts even on full battery. Also, it will start when you need more power, such as climate control or heater, etc. Having your engine running isn't enabled only and exclusively by the battery level.

@Chyzwar

It seems car didn't make any annoying sound while driving? PS would you advise me to go with 1.2 turbo petrol automatic or 1.8 hybrid automatic chr if I mainly drive 40 to 80kmh and sometimes 80 to 130kmh?
@Chyzwar
@Chyzwar 6 жыл бұрын
Google Account it is depending what kind of the road you are driving. If mainly city then hybrid will be perfect. If highways than electric engine usage will be poor.

So in reality, my Saab 1.9TiD 150bhp (200bhp) is brilliant at achieving better MPG than this hybrid. I have a CHR on hire for a week right now and it's a 2021 model, 2.0 petrol, 190bhp. So far, I have achieved about 37mpg for mixed city/highway driving. My Saab can hit 44mpg for the sme mixed driving.

Internal Combustion ENGINE (ICE), Electric MOTOR. There's no such thing as electric engine. Thank's for the consumption info, but you were more playing with car, than actually measuring anything. You could have selected in example 100km/h, 120km/h, 140km/h from cruise control and stayed for 10 mins in that speed. Then you would have had reasonable estimate for the consumption in that speed.
