What is the short term solution until the Hydrogen Fuel challenge is met in 2050? Or will Clean Coal Technology finally be the answer?

Hydrogen molecules infiltrate metal crystals and make them brittle over time. An old hydrogen tank under high pressure is a bomb waiting to go off. In addition to this, hydrogen is the smallest molecule and it is devilishly difficult to stop a hydrogen system leaking. This is an explosive gas!! Lastly - where will the hydrogen come from? Electrolysis of water? By electricity from fossil fuels? Pull the other leg - it got bells on 🤣🤣😂🤣

I wish I could explain how depressed I feel after watching this video. I've heard this hard sell about hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for about 25 yrs. All the same challenges still exist today that existed in the late 90s. You have to drive around with a highly compressed tank of gas in your car and there is nowhere to refill it. Ok it might be a solution to reducing carbon emissions that is less harmful to the environment than battery EVs but hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are not being mass produced, there is still no hydrogen refueling network and no one wants to get in a traffic accident in a car with a tank of highly compressed gas inside it waiting to blow.

I'm sure hydrogen fuelled cars produce less CO2 than than either current battery powered cars or fossil fuel ones. However there are two problems. First, battery technology is evolving very rapidly, while hydrogen isn't; and second the penny is beginning to drop that CO2 isn't the demon it's been painted and more of it in the atmosphere may actually be beneficial. So a technology that doesn't produce it is inherently less attractive.
